Lol yes going over 100 here in the US is pretty unnecssary in MOST areas. especially in NOVA
But in germany its common practice (Yes I've been there, yes I've driven there, and yes I'm talking MPH not KMH). HOWEVER. They are MUCH more strict on the licensing process (IIRC 100 hrs of behind the wheel training required) and therefore the driver's I would say are on average better. And where it is allowed, the roads are long and you can see ahead of you for a long way ahead. No unexpected turns/curves for the most part.
I've never taken my TL past 95mph. Its stupid in my area especially. In germany I did 135mph in a 6mt diesel 10' BMW 135i. that was fun
but still too fast IMO.
Not that fast though; roughly 125mph:

Burning Brakes
Got all that crazy speeding stuff out of my system when I was younger. After lots of tickets, stupid expensive insurance, suspended license etc etc. You learn maybe the rules do apply to me. You'll probably just have to learn that the hard way like I did And that was done in cars ment for speed, TL's are 4 door luxury sedans, Your not driving an STI.

You have to think, when you accelerate from a redlight you're likely giving it more throttle than required to go 100mph steady state.
Next time you have an empty road, hit the gas like you're taking off from a light and keep the pedal in the same position. You'll be over 100mph before the car stops accelerating. 100mph is not hard on the car unless you're doing it for long periods of time and even that is debatable.

I've gone 130 on one occasion and 120 on another. This was on a freeway in the early AMs, and I was in dire need to get back. I'd say I was over 100 for over 10-20 minutes. Little to no cars on the road, and the TL performed just as expected.
Definitely not something I would like to do again. There is a constant fear of the cops just waiting for you which negates any potential of fun you'd get from being a speed demon. For me, even going 5 mph past the speed limit gives me enough fear :P

BUY MY CL - see garage!
Never done that in my TL, but when I was 19 we made it from Philadelphia to Jacksonville in 11hrs, 45 minutes. Approx 110-120 through NC, SC and GA in my buddies Geo Prism. If that car could do it, I'm sure this one can too.
Looking back, I can't believe we didn't suffer an repercussions. I would never even consider something like that now.

I'll take the TL to about 100, but I like her too much to abuse her past that. Plus 4th gear sucks so much I don't even wanna b in it...
I reached 146 in my rsx on the Susquehanna Bridge in PA, that was insanity and I almost cried afterwords when I realized how stupid it was, and what I had just done!
As for just cruising at speeds of over 100mph, and chillin there for a few minutes, I would think thats fine for the CAR but stupid unless ur late for a date with Megan Fox or something else mega-important.

ive road sport bikes for 4 years... since riding and enjoying the power of a sport bike i've had no desire to go over 100. if i do its because im in a hurry. last summer i had a ws6 and when i sold it the guy asked how fast I went in it... i dont think i ever went over 90. Just enjoyed getting to 80 asap :-)
