PureOne oil filter for TL $3.50

Amazon has a deal on PureOne filters 2 packs for $7.00. You need to buy 4 of them to qualify for free shipping. Still, thats a great deal for anybody who does there own oil changes. They have other PureOne filters at that price that fit other cars also.

A good deal but it was even better when they were $5.88 for a pack of two. I won't be buying any more filters for a long time. They are great filters.

Been lots of discussion on the OEM's starting with the A02 series.
You can't do much WORSE than the junk that comes from Fram, which these are.

Purolator is one of the biggest brands in filters. Yes, they are better than K&N.

So is Fram (biggest). I can buy dealer junk at $5 all day.
Better than K&N? I'm game...prove it!
Cheaper yes.
Good find price wise, though...if that's what you want.

That is according to the SAE. Here is a few tidbits for your perusal.

Here are the filters results:

Mobil 1: Single pass efficiency (SAE J806) of 98% vs. an 85% average for conventional filters. * Multiple pass efficiency (SAE J806) of 95% vs. an 80% average for conventional filters.

Pure One: Single Pass Test efficiency for the PureONE filter is 99.7%. Pure One captures 96% of all contaminants as measured by the Society of Automotive Engineers' (SAE) #J806 Multiple Pass Test. *

PureONE features exclusive Micronic Filtration media that traps even the smallest particles of dirt and grime before they get to your engine. Particles too small for conventional filters to catch. Which is why PureONE is the top ranked filter in SAE tests at keeping your oil pure. And why no other filter provides better protection for your engine.

Good information.
There was a thread on the forum(a long one), where someone had actually cut open some filters to compare quality. I don't think PureOne was included. It was mainly to show how crappy the factory filter is after Filtech quit manufacturing them and they went to Fram.

Looks good to me even thought I have a Mobil1-104 on the car. What are the numbers for the K&N filter & the factory filter?

I am not sure where K&N or the stock filter ranked. It may be difficult to find data on stock filters because they are rebranded filters and auto manufacturers can change suppliers whenever they want.

Once I saw that PureONE was ranked the best and also is relatively cheap I had all the information I needed. I bought 30 of them as I have another car and a motorcycle that use the same filter. My research is done.

Where can you actually *buy* a 15400-PLM-A01 for that price?

Not the 15400-PLM-A01 "R" or "RPL" version you find on Ebay, but an actual Filtech 15400-PLM-A01 for that price.

I assume the dealer buys it straight from the manufacturer (whoever that may be) and marks it up 1000%.

AFAIK, you can't get those at the dealer. At least not *most* dealers. Aren't they are discontinued? New part number is 15400-PLM-A02 supposedly made by Fram.
