Pulled shifter out of gear while poppin a u-turn

hey guys,

Yesterday I pulled into a parking lot and popped a u turn at around 10 mph. I began the turn in second gear and mid turn my right elbow hit the shifter really hard and it went out of gear without the clutch depressed. I then shifted back into gear and there hasn't been any noticeable side effects since that accident.

I'm 5'2" so unfortunately I have to sit close , hence why my elbow was able to hit the knob. Could I have done major damage??

I don't really know much on this, but it just went into neutral, you'll be fine... Theoretically no resistance, strain, or grinding should have occurred... I don't see any problems with that...

10 MPH doing a u-turn, so guessing the tranny wasn't under load, so not a problem at all.

Food for thought: it's possible to drive around without using the clutch at all.

Dude,I have seen guys shift their cars without using the clutch entirely at WOT. When I first started learning stick on my first manual, it was a honda accord, I found out you could shift it out of gear easily without the clutch, but not so easy to get it back in. I did all sorts of bad things to my first manual transmission car, stuff that I would never purposefully do to my car nowadays. I guess my point is that that old honda was able to take that abuse I would think the TL could take a lot more than one mis shift. It has way beefier clutch than my old accord. That thing was so weak I toasted it trying to do a burnout on a hill, in the wet... And that car was pretty heavy and had like 100 horsepower less. And a five speed. Great memories though. I will never forget my first manual car, I havent bought another automatic since.

I think I know what the issue was and it's not the clutch...

Well that was when I was 18 and thought that every manual car should be able to do a burnout lol.

Oh, when I was 18 I did a lot of bad things. Wasn't the car's fault though lol
