Power Steering Problem

Hey guy,

Just had my power steering hose changed due to the recall on the tl's. I have a 2007 acura tl type s auto with 120,000 miles. so everything seemed fine when i took away from the dealer then i notice i sound from the power steering pump after about 5-10 min of driving so i got home look at it and it there is a noise coming from the power steering pump its not a real whining noise its more of a ticking sound with a very very little whine the system is fine it drives fine but the noise is very annoying, iam thinking they ran the pump dry and the bearing or something in the core is worn now, do you think i have any chance to get the fixed at the dealer for free or at a discount or do i need a new bearing for the pump or maybe a new pump entirely which are expenese at 230 bucks. any advice would be appeciated thank you!

Is there any foaming in the resevoir? It may be that there's a bit of air in the system that has to bleed out. I'd call up the dealership and explain the problem either way to see what they have to recommend. That way you'll also have record of contacting them if it turns out it's a larger problem.

I'd absolutely get on the phone with the dealer. If the PS pump worked fine beforehand it should be the same or better after the fact, not worse. Don't let too much time pass before doing so.

^Exactly. If it wasn't making the sound before, they obviously did something wrong, or the parts they installed are at fault.

There are no bubbles or foam in the system the fluid is at good level an I did the o ring change about 10000 miles ago it's been about a week since I had it at the dealer if the give me problems should I try Acura nationwide? Also since the hose was at fault of puttIng air in the system could it have caused premature wear to the pump? And the hose was under recall I think Iam at least entitled to discount on a new pump at least

Dealership is going the right thing, since it's a recall item. Make sure they fix this issue to your satisfaction.

And make sure it doesn't cost you anything out of pocket.
