So there is no more problem? Why did it cost 600 bucks? You could have had a collection of pumps for that amount.

Acura doesn't give those pumps away, list is $375.

OP, just a heads up and probably no issue, but keep an eye on your rear seal for leaking. Did they happen to replace the PS hose as well under the PS recall? Don't know if you've seen the other posts:

everyone should check if they are recall affected call acura with VIN 1-800-382-2238x5

And- replace ps fluid as directed by book or more often- iirc its 60kmiles or 3 years
and I know the fluid gets really gunky, causing pump seal failure - destroying rack seals etc
Do a full system flush before installing new pump

There is no recommended replacement interval for PS fluid, at least in the 04 manual. You may be thinking of transmission fluid interval at 60K.

Im gen2 owner so go off that schedule- we dont get ABC service lights, just miles/months,
and from experience in the industry- 3 years is time for those things like brake fluid (should do every year for safety) and ps fluid

Believe it or not, nothing, pp. 199 and 212:
04 owner's maual.

It does indicate to check fluid levels and condition every other oil change (which is every 10K to 15K, depending on how you drive), but nothing on PS fluid flush/change.

It covers all fluids except for PS and clutch: transmission fluid (service minder 3), brake fluid (every 3 years, pg 211), oil (service minder A and B, antifreeze (service minder 5).

I'm switching to Redline Syn PSF.. heck I'd use Redline ATF before I went back to Honda PSF.. lol. I would replace the PSF every 30k miles.

Have you had the hose recall done? If not, get it done and make sure they replace the o-ring with the new orange one. If it was done, replace the inlet o-ring, hopefully that'll cure it.

Here's a DIY:

I've had the recall done and replaced the o-ring a second time and still get a lot of noise in the morning. Everything still works fine though.

if changing ps fluid brands you need to do a flush of the PS and rack by filling and pumping out the system twice

Im shocked the new cars are not on a more rigid fluid change
Anyway- based on years of working on cars- 3/60 is time for ps fluid
Brake fluid acura says start at year 3 then every year
I have seen and changed brake fluid on 2 year old acura with grey garbage for fluid- moisture gets absorbed and ruins fluid then ruins parts

fluids are cheap and save money later

a trick used on some older ford explorer vehicles with steering noise- 1 tablespoon of slick 50 in the ps and noise was gone forever,

That recommendation is poor. I bought my TL used and when I did my first brake flush the BF looked like swamp water.

I go by severe service for everything- 1 year on brake fluid is time for a change- especially in the dakotas with your severe rain--
wiki hygroscopic and it will send you running to the parts stores for 5 bucks of fluid

These systems hate microscopic rust particles~

acura keeps changing the book year by year so I get things wrong,,yeah- thats it- its acuras fault~
