Poor Celica

Don't really know what power these things put down when modded but one was harrasing me through Lincoln ave in S.F(maybe an 02 or 03?).. He had a loud exhaust and a bunch of stickers of his mods(I'm guessing) When we finally lined up he initially got the jump(1/2 at most) but when I hit 2nd gear I was gone( I thought he gave up) I shut it down at about 65mph( 35mph speed limit) On a side note it seems like a lot of toyota's try to pick on my 3G TL-S.. I don't know why but corolla's/prius out here in the bay area zip thru traffic ALL THE TIME! I Never lost to any of them but there's been a couple modded corolla's that kept up until 100mph.. I thought there supposed to be slow!(I witnessed a corolla and civic si pretty much even from a dig til about 50-60mph)

i haven't been in the racing forums much over there so i wouldn't know exact times... but i have just been researching turbos to put into the 07...

the most basic turbo at 8psi will put you around 200 whp on the 1ZZ motor (LE, S)... about 30 ish hp more on the 2ZZ (XRS models)... that is all on stock internals...

i read some guys are hitting 300 whp... with a full interior at 2700-2800 lbs... i would expect high 12's...

Hi Kam!

And then there's Stan with that killer Sentra putting 385hp to the wheels . .

What about the basic i/h/e? Do they respond well to mods?

What's up with Toyota drivers?
I was cruising down 380 at 80-85, I see this white thing coming up on my rear.
It's an Avalon beater with FL plates.
So I speed up to 90... 95...100...105...110...115, each time I pull away from him (with ease), he decides to coming right up to my ass.
Now I see a hill coming and traffic so I start to slow down, he proceeds to go to the right lane and speed up even more, cuts back into the left lane almost hitting a car in the right lane.

I thought he was following me cuz he saw my V1, but I guess not.
Some people are just nut cases.

they usually need to get tuned after any a/f affecting mods are installed... but you shouldn't have to worry about any non XRS model with full bolt ons... those 1ZZ engines need boost to get them fast... and most of the ricers don't know what true modding is, when they slap on SRIs and fart cans...

the XRS has a 2zz 6spd... and with bolt ons can put them at almost 200 hp crank on the 05 models... i guess for power to weight ratio is pretty decent though... so i wouldn't be surprised if one or two good drivers can give you a decent run...

not sure about the new 09 models with the 2.4L though... may be a diff story... since they are still pretty new cars, i haven't seen many owners with them modded yet...
