This is an Acura forum thread about the TL involved in the chase. I am sure that no one in their right mind looks at this as "score one for the bad guys" because they are driving a TL. I sure as hell don't. So please relax on that guilt trip stuff. Those were some funny posts (including the ones about me ya dorks - hahahaha!), but in no way are they indicative of the way the corresponding posters felt about those two guys that lost their lives, nor was it a blatant disregard for their loved ones left behind. Just trying to keep things in perspective here before it gets out of hand. We are all adults here.
I guess I am compelled to respond to this comment since I am "the guy" you are now disparaging. You read WAY more into my comment than was ever intended. My post was nothing more than a level-headed reminder that there are "serious" issues related to the TL aspect of the story.

Now, I think we would both agree that there are PLENTY of threads on this forum which have gotten way out of hand. I was just trying to encourage posters to give their posts a little more thought before they fire them off. I don't mind having a little fun with stuff...heck, I'm surprised there haven't been any jokes about whether the perps will be found wearing shirts or not (i.e. COPS).

You lecture me about being "too serious" and that I've inserted a "guilt trip" into the conversation when my post was not intended to be that...I can't keep you from reading it that way, however. Plus, you're right, there have been some funny posts and I said as much in my original post. Again, just wanted people to not say anything stupid in the energy of the humor.

Now, I've had my say...truce?

Chill out man. How could this be a great tool for what happened? We are not crime fighters. I only know what happened from CNN, how am I going to solve this crime from Michigan.

Oh by the way, there is no such thing as bad advertising. The bad guys wanted a quick, good handling, not too flashy, but yet popular, and dependable get-away car. The TL is the logical choice.

I was about to post about my story of getting pulled over this morning until I read this thread. I was pulled over on the NJ Turnpike this morning by an unmarked car ( I was doing about 80 ) so obviously I was pissed bc I knew I was getting a ticket. I almost tossed my escort 8500 out the window bc it gave me no warning. Two minutes later another car pulled up and stopped in front on me... by now i'm nervous as shit. To make a long story short they told me to put my windows down. (I have 5% rears and 20% front but at 6:15 this morning it was still dark and you can't see shit inside).... three cops (2 on the right and one on the left walked up to my vehicle. and said my car matched the description of a stolen car. WTF? I gave them all my paperwork etc. and they finally told me they were looking for this car in a high profile robery commited in PA... I didn't even know about the Philadelphia Robbery car until just now.. I was actually at my local repair shop when this crime was commited.

Anyway, if anyone is in the NJ/PA area that owns a black TL-S I would be very careful if approached by a cop. I gave them all my information etc and they let me go. They did ask to search my car, and I wasn't going to let them but didn't want to cause trouble. I opened the trunk and back doors and they were happy with that.

Jesus christ, what a way to start the morning... Ray, was it you? lol

For all those that do not know...Stella is a "TL" not a "TL-S".

Besides, one look at the grille and the wheels tells them that I am not their guy! Now, I may get a search done on my vehicle, but I will let them because I'd know it's just so they can check out my mods!

Had to be an NDP-er! WDP-ers go to banks to make deposits, NDP-ers go to banks to steal them.

Anyone know if there are any updates? Arrests? Footage?

Good find, all I was seeing was a different view, with the TL backing into a parking spot.

How true.

I was watching CNN while standing in line at the bank this morning (depositing, of course, as any good WDP-er would do ), and they said they had no leads and were looking for help from the people. They showed clips from the surveillance cameras, but you couldn't see much.

Everytime I see a NBP TL-S, I wish I got one (except for today). I mean, I know I have at least spent the extra cost in mods so far bare minimum! LOL!

That's not really breaking news. The Phillies have lost over 10000 games, they've been sucking longer than most teams have existed.

They were stopping all cars not just TL-S... I saw a '00 Black RL pulled over surrounded by like 5 cars!!!

On a better note the Philly cops made swift justice in this case (as usual when one of their own is killed)... they think they found their man, but here's the kicker. The guy used his own car and actually kept it and put a car cover on it. Wow... they shoulda killed him on the spot, save the tax payers some money!!!

They say they got the guy...

Fox News sources say a person of interest interrogated at Philadelphia police headquarters confessed to an armored truck heist and murder of two retired police officers. Charges are pending; his name is not being released at this time.

Police towed a car at an apartment complex in northeast Philadelphia that matches the description of the getaway vehicle used by the robber who gunned down two armored car guards.

A sobering reality...

That's a very sad state of affairs. Very sad indeed. I just checked out the multiple videos referencing the robbery. Puzzling that someone owning an auto like the TL-S, has to resort to murder for money. I mean, don't you only buy this if you can afford it? Credit checks? Maybe it's not his. Maybe his car is actually that WDP Buick they pulled him out of? I pride myself for having an NBP, but surely this is one of the darker days, excuse the pun.

Nevertheless, two people who were never given the chance to surrender were killed in cold blood. Trying to make a living in their retirement for themselves and their family. And for what? According to the accounts given by the police, for what could amount to little or nothing of value to the assailant. Damn! That means they died for nothing, and that's pretty fucked up! Hard for anyone with a soul to have apathy towards this story. It could've been any of our fathers or uncles. Shit like this is never cool, but it's the reality we raise our children in. Makes you want to do something...if only you knew what that something was...but whatever it is, it won't do those two poor guys any good. Only prayers for their fams...

Yeah, I've heard different speeds with the same vette video, some say over 170+, some say "about 100", a lot are 160.

I lmao when John Bunell starts ranting craziliy about how a driver is wild for going 80-90 mph down a highway during a police chase. Hell I get passed by people going 100 easy just about everyday on the highway and they aren't even running from the police or anyone! He would go insane.

Does anyone know about police auto auctions? I would really like to see if this car actually goes to auction and see how much it goes for, who knows it could really be a steal. I'm wondering because it was seized and is probably financed would it just be turned over to the lienholder?

That's a good question. I would like to know that as well. I'm assuming it goes to the lienholder and they auction it off since it is probably not paid for. I wouldn't expect a thief to be a baller. LOL! But hey, if I bought it, first thing I would do is check for change in the seats!

that guy is a total jackass. Why the hell would you rob a bank with a brand new car.. Not only that but a type S. There arent that many around . Consider if was a regular TL you are spanning a year from 04-08. but the type S just came out this year. The police must have had an easy time locating him.. The car will probably go to auction, but not before the cops rip the car apart and use it for a few undercover highspeed beatings. good luck to whoever wins that car at auction.

they got him...

"A man was arrested and charged in Thursday's deadly armored car robbery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, police said Saturday. Mustafa Ali, 36, was charged with two counts of murder, robbery and other related offenses in the shooting deaths of two Loomis armored car guards and theft of cash at a bank ATM."
