I am in a dilemna. I reallylike the TL and I saw the BMW 325 CI convertible. MY friends are saying that ACURA isn't as famous as BMW and I should get the BMW instead. BMW also gets the free maintenance for 4 years and the 325 CI is the bigger eye turner. Any of you all own a BMW before and what do you think of them compared to your 2004 TL.

i think if you get a black TL i will be a bigger head turner. i dont like the BMX 325. but what ever you do make sure YOU like it.

 

i have a TL and a 330 and can say that yea the bmw does get more compliments than the acura. problem is, you're talking about a entry level bimmer. if you're not gonna get the 330, get the TL. plus, they're redesigning the 3-series after this year. however, if you still want to go for just the bmw name, then you'll be in luck because they'll be discounting to move the suckers.

 

lets be serious if it was the 330 convert then i say its something to think about but in this case the tl. Although bmw does have the name the tl is a fresh new design and is very strinking, for now i think alot people like the tl over any 3 series just not the M of course.

 

fer what its worth, i'm selling my m3 and buying a tl...

yes, the bmw has far more prestige (around here anyway) but i like the interior of the tl and the gadgets. and i dont drive as fast as i used to when i bought the m3. (note this is an older 98 m3, so nearing the 100k mi mark, and time to replace it)

the m3 is faster/better handling, but no where near the perks and size of the tl, plus its a lot more expensive.

 

The 3 series are beer cans with wheels.
If you can't buy the top of the line or close to it in any car manufacturers line then do't buy it. It looks stupid. If you drive a 230 mercedes you look stupid. If you drive a Audi TT and are not a girl, you look stupid.
It's like when people buy a high end 3 series. Buy a Vette. For the same money if not less, it's ten times a better car.
the 3 series is like the 944 porshe. a poor mans porche.

 

Are you just buying the car for appearance sake? Sounds that way.

Most people will come on here and ask opinions on similar cars (i.e. TL, G35 sedan, A4, 9-3SS, etc...).

Personally, it sounds like you're wanting to buy a car for all the wrong reasons, namely what other people will think about it.

Buy the car for you and what you want in a car. Screw everyone else.

Get the M5 or stay happy with the TL. I gaurantee you happiness. Like "vothsc" says.."you will have to pay for it not your friends".

 

Well, if you want to be a lemming with no opinion of your own, serving only to follow the crowd, go with the BMW.

Otherwise, drive both cars and make the decision YOU like. I considered both the 540i and M5 before pulling the trigger on the TL, namely because BMWs require a rather insane level of maintenance...and if you don't believe me, talk to some of the OGs on bimmerforums.
