Please advise ASAP

I took my 2005 Acura TL 6 speed in for some strange noise when I make a turn at certain times. I have complained about this several times in the last 2 years and it has gotten worse. Acura determine it was a bad transmission. Since I have Extended Care they will take care of the cost of the transmission. Acura actual got me a new transmission not rebuilt. But they want to replace clutch and flywheel. Here is a picture. They are telling since they are replacing the transmission I would be saving labor for clutch and flywheel. Please advise.

You definitely save in labor, but you have to judge the wear on the clutch disc to determine if it needs replacing. If you do agree to have the disc replaced, I would also have them replace the clutch release bearing. Concerning the flywheel, I would think that it depends on how hard you have been on the clutch. I have seen them wear badly on some cars but I would think that it most likely is okay to reuse. Ultimately, it depends on the cost. If it seems reasonable, then have it done now.

Judging from the picture, i would go ahead and change the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and the flywheel. It looks like the dealer is probably giving you good advice.

I can't tell exactly from the picture, but typically, those spots on the flywheel cannot even be machined out. The metal in those spots has been overheated and you will always get a little (or a lot) of chatter from the clutch.
