Pissed off...
This morning I just saw this on the front. The back door of the truck/van street-parking in front of me yesterday evening prolly hit me.
Sucks.
Should I have the body shop painted the whole quarter panel in order to fix this damn quarter-size hole?
This city SUCKs.

I feel your pain. Living on LI I make it a point to never take my TL of 530i into NYC. I always take my Maxima. I would get it fixed ASAP. They should be able to blend the paint without having to paint the whole quarter panel.

I hope you can get it fixed without the entire repaint. Good luck.
That's one ugly dent.

ouch, sorry to hear rets.
is it actually dented? If not, the quick way is some bondo and a touch up pen, but that may still show. Best thing is remove the fender and take it to a shop to fix and repaint that section.

oh dang that looks bad. i would take it to the shop to see if it can get repaired. most likely something like that will require a repaint of the fender but if they can hide it well you might be able to save some $$$.

Check with your dealer. They usually have one of those traveling touch-up guys for their used cars and new cars nicked in transit. There are others who do this, but the dealer's guy has probably worked with acura colors before. I had my dealer touch up a tiny nick I found on my anthracite '05 at the time of delivery.....I can't even find it now.

....you also may want to look at some of their work. Some are much better than others. Find out what days they go to your dealer and talk to them. They can let you know if a decent fix is possible.

Any chance you were in Yonkers today, somewhere around 254th Street?

This thread is valuable with pics.
Seriously though, that sucks. Just once I'd like to catch the guy who dents my door. (Panel in your case.) I probably wouldn't know what to say. I'd stand there with my mouth open in disbelief.

Thanks all the helps and suggestions, guys...
The hole is dented, and the metal under the paint is clearly visable right now. The paint around that hole seems to peel off easily. I could imagine it would become worse and worse soon.
I have tons of chips on my hood, but not that quarter fender. It's bad to have the whole fender painted.

Rets, I feel for ya! If you run into that SOB again, I'm sure you'll let him know about it. With the color matching process now, it's easier to blend in with the rest of the paint.

Also, I didn't have my full nose bra on my car at that time. I always remove them when SNOW, RAIN, etc.

Rets,
When my wife's '02 TL had someone attempt to take its lights they mangled the fender pretty good. I had a new one put on and the place I went to specialized in Acuras - you'd never know it was replaced (well, it no longer has the SN sticker inside) and the paint matched perfectly - they blended it real nice. I do not recommend touch up. Maybe in another spot you could get away with that, but where you got it would be very visible the way the light hits it. Sorry man - that is a friggin big chunk - looks like a nickel or quarter size from the pic.
I hate loser people that do not care about anyone elses property.
Good luck man.

I'm sorry to hear your TL was abused, rets. A good shop should be able to fix that up without repainting the whole panel.

They will probably just spot-paint it and not do the entire fender. Today's body shops do an amazing job of blending new paint with existing. You will not be able to see where it ever happened.
That's my experience over the last couple of years with small damages on my daughter's car.
