pickup tonight and question

after a month and a half of waiting, i finally get to pick up my christmas present tonight when my dad gets home! ABP w/ A-SPEC. i can't wait! i was thinking of taking a road trip with some buddies of mine. how bad do you think it would be to go for a long drive a day after getting the car? i can take the 330ci but it's too small and will get uncomfortable going to Seattle. what should i do?

.

Nothing wrong with a long road trip. Just keep the rpms low and no sudden accelerations or brakes. I guess keeping the rpms below 4K seems to be the consensus. Additionally, don't use the cruise control. The engine needs 600 miles to break in and it should be broken in at different speeds.

I just got mine Saturday and the next day did a 500 mile road trip. I stopped 5 times to break up the runs. I varied my speed from about 55 to 75 continually. Another good idea that someone recommended for interstate driving is to take off-ramps and returns every so often. I did that six or eight times. Most importantly stay below 4000 rpm. (Hard to do I know!) and don't brake too hard. I plan to continue breakin by gradually uping my rpms and WOT occurances over the next 600 miles.

You will find this a great road car.
