Well after going back and forth for weeks now I am going to take possession of a Silver with Ebony interior 06 TL Navi. I currently own a 03 TL but after a transmission failure which scared the sh*t out of me, (nothing like dropping into 2nd gear while driving 75mph in traffic.) and thinking about my newborn son being in the car if it happened again I just couldn't trust the car anymore. Don't get me wrong I loved my 03 but you need to trust what you are driving. I looked at lots of other cars, (CTS, G35, BMW 3 series, Accord, C-class Benz) because I dont believe Acura has done their job when it comes to these tranny failures, but when you compare apples to apples the TL is the best bang for the buck So I am moving into the 3rd generation neighborhood now.

 

If you look at consumer reports, the TL's had significant transmission problems up until the 3g models. I'd say the 3g is a completely different beast from your 2g model. Another thing to keep in mind, I actually think that Acura's have some of the most well protected vehicles on the road in terms of safety features.
