Pedal on the floor for the 1st time this weekend. Wow!
So I already own an MDX 2005 with a bigger 3.5L engine but comparable numbers(less torque, more HP on the base TL).
I bought it while there was still ice/snow on the road and with all season tires so in the first few days I was going very easy with the gas or the front would spin.
Finally got good weather this weekend. Was getting on an empty road and already going maybe 10km/h when I decided to put the shifter in "L" and floor it.
Wow is all I can say. My A4 1.8T was never even close to that. I won't be using "L" much; this might be too much car for the public roads. It's already too much power for a front wheel drive with all season tires.

The MDX will keep me grounded. It has a lot more "go" from a stop probably due to lower gearing/more torque but after that it does not accelerate all that much.
At first I was very surprised to see how little "go" there was on the TL from a dead stop but this changes very as speed goes up past walking pace.

baller on a budget, b!tch
Not sure if you guys will understand this but you might... I feel like the car is "quick for what it is". Basically meaning like I'm kinda suprised how fast it is even with little to no engine mods. Just my 2C. BTW, I have a lifted 2004 grand cherokee with the 4.0 I6 to keep me "grounded". ahahah she is a war pig!!!

The MDX weighs ~4,500 lbs
The TL weighs ~3,500-3,600 lbs.
That's nearly a 1,000 lbs difference between the two! So for sure the TL is going to cover more ground quicker than the MDX because it's lighter while already in motion, but from a complete stop I'm nearly 100% sure that if it wasn't for the AWD system on the MDX than the MDX would be like a snail taking off from dead stops lol

I understand. Performance-wise, my car is 100% stock and it still can bring a giant smile to my face. Nothing like dropping it into second while going around a corner and just letting 'er rip. The sound of the smooth V6 is beautiful, too.

the TL is powerful for what it is. the fact that it has faster straight line performance than a smaller e46 330i is good enough for me.
plus the gear lever in the TL has a much better feel than the E46. you know when you're in gear. the E46, eeeh most of the time. You'll know soon enough if the gear shift pops out of 1st.

One other thing I did not mention is how much more responsive the brake pedal is on the MDX vs the TL but maybe that's just because they surfaced the discs before I bought the TL and they are not "bedded" yet. Also it could be that the MDX is build to brake with 7 passengers and a trailer. The discs on the MDX sure $costs$ like they were made to stop a stampeding SUV.

I don't think that either car slips at all on dry ground so lower gearing or torque has to have some effect there.

In my TL however.... I have to press it down a lot further but the braking is much more smooth, just not as sensitive and as responsive compared to the 07 accord v6.
I always thought it was a problem with my TL but my friend who has also driven another stock TL said that my pedal feels the same as the other stock TL. Who knows

I noticed this too! For some reason my TL brake pedal doesnt bite as hard compared to my moms 07 accord v6 se. In her accord I can press the brake pedal down not even 1 inch while driving 5 mph and it'll stop the car so hard that you will get thrown forward for a brief second.

Next mod! Deciding whether I should go with brakemotive or EBC rotors... I always felt the brakemotive rotors are on the cheaper end of the spectrum when it comes to quality brake rotors, but idk. Something about the brakemotive rotors being $200 w/ brake pads compared to a quality set like EBC ~$400 a set with no brake pads sounds like a too good to be true difference..
