Paintmatched Front Grill
Anyone have pics of a paint matched front grill on a AM 3G? I can't stand the silver it doesn't go with anything. I am thinking about paint matching mine and paintin the Acura emblem gloss black. What do you guys think?
I also want to debadge the rear except the A and paint the A on the rear black also. And I am smokin my tails and rear side markers already got the tint on the way.

The picture quality of my newer style grille really sucks, first 2 pics. But it is the exact fit to your description, just looks way better in person. I had the outer parts gloss black before I changed it.

A good DIY on this would be extensive. The material cost would be high if you had to go out an buy all the necessary paint materials, much more than just the base paint is needed, solvents, adhesion promoter, clear, hardener, ect. Good high quality 2K clear is expensive. That's what you want to use on the grille, for durability. Also it takes pro spray equipment to use the pro materials, most people don't have any of that stuff. Going to a really good bodyshop is recommended. Painting these parts can be a little tricky to ensure proper adhesion, and a good color match. I sure wouldn't use spray paint on something like this.

Depends on a few things, how much of the grille you want painted, quality level of the paint, ect. To do it right, the bumper needs come off, and be de-trimmed, hood molding removed. A shop might agree to have you bring the parts in to save labor cost for example, so there are a few variables. A high end shop could charge 350-450 ish, lower end, or less labor involved could charge 150-250 ish. Your best bet is to call around in your area.

My shop charged me $250 and threw in a large bottle of touch-up paint (which I've used already) and a complete wash, wax, and detail. It took them 2 days and they removed both the bumper and grille to do it correctly. Even the shop owner thought it looked better when they were finished. You might find it cheaper if you look around enough.

Anyone check out the grill they are selling on eBay and we have been discussing in the other thread over in the photo forum ? Here's the eGay link:
3G Grill Link
I'm thinking of getting this painted in NBP and then somehow rigging up a floating "A" emblem as few others have done.

I'm a big fan of the color matched surrounding area and a chrome cross bar piece with Chrome emblem.
That eBay grill looks interesting. I think it would like nice with the A-Spec or TL-S emblem in there some how.

As for the EBay grill I'm interested wish the mesh was a bit different but i would have to see it on the car first. To the OP my personal opinion on your plan is that it looks hot judging from the pics posted of that exact setup.

Ok so my car is going to the body shop on Tuesday however I am debating about what to do now. I am thinking about going with the outer part gloss black and the inner part and crosspiece AM with a black emblem. Do you have any pics of your car when it was like this?

Personally I like the all AM version better. Looks good when the hood trim blends in with the rest of the hood line. I had the older black version for quite a while. The black version tends to make the grille look bigger, the AM tends to look smaller. Here is another pic of all AM except the emblem.

It's all good dude. What ever makes the car look better!
I tinted the whole rear bezel, and painted the trim piece gloss black. I'm thinking of painting it AM next time I paint something.

Its paint, not tint film. This is what I did:
Removed and cleaned the part
Wet sand w/ 800
2 coats of clear base lightly tinted w/ black base
2 med-heavy coats of high quality 2K clear
I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with a tinted deck lid bezel so far. I've seen another that was painted with the reverse lights masked off.

Yeah I have no idea where I saw it, somewhere in the photo section probably. If I see it again I will PM the link to you.
I think just tinting, and paint matching the trim piece NBP would look killer.
