Paint restoration on exposed bumper
Hello all,
I unfortunately have a 5mm area of exposed bumper on the front left side after leaving the car in a public lot. I was planning on having the paint touched up by a dealer recommended (not Acura certified) auto body shop.
I am planning on waiting for more extensive scratches in the future before repainting the entire bumper panel. Any warnings or suggestions on this?
I certainly wish I could regain that factory finish.
Thank you for your comments.

This sounds like a very small imperfection, although I can imagine it looms large in your eyes. There are various ways a bodyshop or paint detailer could deal with this, but any method which even partially hides this blemish will be time consuming and hence expensive. The only effective way to hide it is to spot repair the damage and re-clear the entire bumper cover. If I were you, I'd buy a bottle of touch-up paint and dab a little on the wound, and save my money for an entire bumper cover repaint some time later.
