paint peels
Have you guys seen any peeling issues near the keyhole? I don't know if it's from service people (I don't give them the fob) inserting the key roughly or whatever, but it looks like it might be flaking too.

Oh no.....I can't believe this paint issue is still around. Why can't Acura get the freaking paint right. The car looks so awesome, and the paint looks great, but with all this peeling and other stuff I've been hearing, it looks like they are still having problems with their paint process. I've had 4 Acuras, and the one with the best paint was a Legend......great car with great paint. I love the '04, but I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting to see if the paint is going to be any good. If I had a brand new $35,000 car and the paint started to peel, I'd return it under the lemon law. There is just no way I'd allow the dealer to repaint a new car...it never looks right.
If they won't buy the lemon law to replace the car, hit them up with "diminished value" since a repainted car is never worth the same as a factory paint job...get some estimates from your insurance company....they might be your friend in this instance. But..don't give up..insist they give you a new car...even if you have to pay the depreciation...it's not going to be as much as the paint is going to lower the value of your car.

The Lemon Law will NOT work for this paint issue. Under a typical Lemon Law, they get 3 chances to fix the problem. They don't just take the car back after not even a chance to repaint the problem areas. In other words, you'd have to have this problem THREE TIMES, possibly even in the same area of the car, in order to begin to qualify for Lemon Law. (There are other ways to qualify, such as days out of service due to problems). And even then, they aren't going to automatically agree to give you another car. You'd have to start forcing the issue, possibly get an attorney involved, etc.
In every forum I've visited, people think they can just walk into a dealership, hand them the keys, and get a new car for basically any defect or problem they don't like, under the Lemon Law. The law determines when a car is legally a lemon, not the owner. There's a lot of similar misunderstaning on "recalls."
