Paint not matching?
Paint not matching?
I know that this has been talked about before but was there any solution to the problem of the paint not matching for the bumpers and the rest of the car?
I have the antheracite, and I think the paint not matching is more noticable than on the other color TLs. Have any dealers provided an acceptable solution?
I notice that even the Honda Accords have matching paint, why would this be a problem for the TL?

Your car might have had Lot damage before you bought it. This is common. So the dealer might have touched up the paint and not told you this. Most dealers do not disclose Lot damage to the customer. I have seen a lot of new TLs and paint and color matching has never been a problem. I know about lot damage issue because a friend of mine works for a dealer and he deals with this alot.
99.9% of the public thinks the paint match between the bumpers and the body is within acceptable limits. I have followed this issue since I first saw the TL. It helps to work next to a Acura dealer. Essentially the lighter the color the more noticeable the mismatch will be. I believe the root cause to lack of coverage. The paint is just too thin. It is common in a lot of cars. The TL has relatively fairly large plastic fascia especially in front with a break line high on the fender. Most high end cars, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lexus put sufficient paint on so this is a non-issue. Acura as with most auto manufactures today have excellent quality control. Thus, the variance of paint color between car to car is virtually zero. Thus, all either match perfectly or don’t match perfectly the same it just depends on your level of discrimination and relative importance you give the issue.
Some people almost exclusively with white cars have gotten Acura to pay for the cost of painting. I believe the $ figure is about 6 to 7 hundred. I suspect the end result when done right is superior. Yet, for other colors the case becomes more discretionary and I suspect you will get a significant amount of resistance from Acura. I think for Black the color is 0.99999 the same and all other being varying degrees. The Anthracite and Blue are so close I would not want to rather not risk the paint shop screwing it up.

several things about auto paint. Auto paints contain Formula's. These formulas are mixed according to weight. One drip in the wrong direction and you will have a color missmatch. that is why blending is so important when we do auto repair. Blending will disguise a color variance. In all cases the vehicles are painted at the manufacture without door handles and without moldings as well as no bumpers. these items are painted in seperate locations and will have different batches of paint. It is common for cars to have these color variances but in most cases the average person does not see the difference. It all comes down to formulas. Human error can mess things up for sure.
