Paint job
So im thinking of getting my front end redone just cause all the marks from rocks and some horrible touch up jobs from previous owner. What would you guys recommend just getting the whole car done or just the front end would eb fine? Also How much does it usually run for NBP?

Post a pic of the front/ damaged area. Not a fan of spending 5k on a whole car being repainted. You wouldn't recoup it. If you can get away with it, just respray the bumper for 200-400 bucks?

This, if anything.
I had my front bumper re-sprayed for $250. The work was excellent and paint matched perfectly. Not two weeks later, it's just as bad as before from rock chips on the highway. It's hard to justify the expense because you'll also probably need to clear-bra it to protect it which is another non-trivial expense, otherwise it's going to get just as bad as it was before.

Haha well this answers something. I agree w/ everyone.
Another thing, there are a lot of videos on youtube on how to restore paint/rock chips and proper ways of properly using touch-up paint and stuff like that.
I've been researching on how to wetsand/buff/etc on my own haha detailing is a little expensive haha
Consider it! =D

Ill add some pics tomorrow left the car in the shop getting the Rack Replaced. Yeah im thinking of getting the Bumper, Hood and Fender repainted dropping 5k on a whole paint job when i dont need the rest done. The only thing im a bit nervous about is the paint Match wouldn't want the front to be darker/Lighter than the rest. Thanks for everyones input btw

Well Everest body work here does it for 600 and will paint match panels. I've seen their work in person and its really good. Just have to inquire around. There are other shops that charge more and do a great job but its down to finding the right place. It really hard to judge but I got lucky with these places in utah.

The work was far from excellent if after two weeks it was as bad as before. Even if you're tailgating gravel trucks every day, I'm gonna guess the clearcoat wasn't hardened properly. My front end was literally sandblasted after the first owner put 42k highway miles on my car in a year and a half. I had the front end sprayed in '08 and it's still almost perfect. Conditions, mileage and driving habits certainly come into play, but good paint work is an essential foundation.
Well it wasn't as bad as before in two weeks, but it did get chipped very quickly. I assumed it was my driving habits and there's nothing I could do about that.
Is there any way to tell that the clearcoat wasn't hardened properly when I pick up and inspect the car? I do almost everything myself because I want it done right. The exception is body work since I don't have the tools, knowledge, or space to do that kind of work. But now I'm contemplating pulling the bumper and painting it myself properly.

Cheap clear is usually less flexible than higher end clear, and if they didn't prep it properly, its not holding to the bumper cover like t should.

That's understandable man, sorry you're having problems with it. Im not sure who did it, but most places would warranty something like that. Maybe they'll fix it for you. If nothing else they can refinish it again and you can put some rock chip film on it or something.

Yeah my Tl-S has some sort of orange peel look to it, but it doesn't feel as uneven.
It's just a blurry texture, but like I said, I plan on learning how to wetsand and what not anyways ya know?

If you do respray, After its done I would recomend the clear bra for the front. The 3m material that good shops use is very thin and does not yellow or peel like other material. We have a place here in sacramento ca that my shop deals with. Its not cheap but it comes with lifetime warrenty and the forms are cut with a machine and fit perfect. You could do just the bumper and most people cant even tell you have it. you can also do hood, fenders, and mirrors. Even the headlights. Its about the same cost as vinyl wrap. I will be doing it to my wifes car after we get the minor dings and chips fixed. Just my 2 pennys..
