p0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

dose this means i need a new cat or it might be one of my o2 sensor.

if its the cat whats the warranty on it 5 Yr 60 k / 100 000 Km now i'm at 110 xxx Kms

By the way i have a 3g Tl

Is that the only code? I would check the o2 sensors first. Cats aint cheap.

probably o2 sensor.. but if it is the cat... straight pipe ftw! Definitely check for other DTC's as Nail suggested..

I had the same code for my GS300, find out which O2 sensor is bad and then replace it. I doubt that your cats are bad, even if they are, you can pick up a used set from the private sales section cheap as there are a lot members with pre-cat deletes on their TLs and the OEM cats sitting their garages.

dealer!!! and if they dont warranty it then you can put in pre-cat deletes!!! alot cheaper than getting cats.

check acura canada as the numbers here may not be the same
the 800 number or go in person and ask the SM to look it up at the dealer
dont take anyones guess- see a written something

have a muffler shop do a test on the cat for you- most do it free
they check temp and flow rate to determine if failed

The usa govt requires a form completed on every replaced cat- showing miles and type of failure,,, so shops know how to properly test them now

I have a dealers appointment monday, but now the light is gone ( i didnt erase it ).
and he told me if its the cat its still under warranty. 130 000 km so i'm safe thank you guys. lets see what happen monday
