Outside Temp Gauge not working

The outside temp gauge on my 04 TL suddenly stopped reading, with no apparent cause. All I get is 3 dashes on the readout. Anyone see this before and have suggestions on what to do?

Yeah, it's a TSB fix listed in the Garage:

WARNING: This condition will draw down your battery! Do not let the car sit for long without checking the battery and either putting a charge on it or driving the car.

This happened to my '04 TL seven weeks after I bought it and 36 hours before starting a 1000 mile vacation trip. The battery went totally dead in five days of the car sitting in my garage (had waxed it the previous weekend and didn't want to get it dirty). My display flatlined that weekend. The thing gets into what appears to be an error loop and continues to draw power from your battery while the car parked. The easiest fix is to pull the number seven fuse (I think this is the one), or the positive battery cable for several seconds. Do a search to find out which fuse it is, or just go with the battery cable removal. This fixed mine immediately and I put a charge on it for 12 hours to bring it back up.

Unhooking the battery has reset the gauge and it's working! But I'll keep this service notice for my next visit to the dealer (who never mentioned it when I asked about this problem). I love this forum. Thanks.
