Here in Kansas City, one of the most affordable cities in America, I'm paying $2.85 a gallon. Boy am I glad my work is only 15 miles away. I feel bad for those guys who have to drive one hour to get to work.

2.71 is the cheapest in my area. I keep filling up to 1/4 because anything more than that feels far too painful..... and I'm secretly hoping my dad will take the car for a spin and fill her up completely..

$2.74 Friday afternoon...saw $2.69 over the weekend...either way, that's about $1.50 too high...a letter to the editor in the Disturber Saturday said it best: Whenever gas prices go up, some know-it-all mentions it is still less than in the early 80's adjusted for inflation, less than Europe, and less than other commodities like milk and Pepto Bismal...well, I'm not driving in the 80's or in Europe, and my car doesn't run on milk or Pepto.

2.80 - 2.95 here in mass for premium. Get ready for 2.75 a gallon for home heating oil up over a buck from last year. And sure the economy will not be impacted!!! LOL I figure fuel will cost me about 3000 more this year than last. That does not include the increase in the electric bill and other factors... Now where will that money come from... Retirement ? savings? I can ask for a raise!! lol
Hmmm So how many out there are going to want to get that hemi.. Those of you who finance cars and own homes just lost about 250 of disposable income per month... So will car sales go up ..I doubt it.. once the impact of these prices (I paid 2.08 for premium in june and 2.80 yesterday) hit us for about a year, you will see people not spending as much around the holidays or buying off the internet since you do not have to drive to stores... I am sure there will be a delivery charge though!!!!

In Balt-Washington area, it had gotten to $2.90 for premium, but it's now dropped off a bit in the last week. If you wanted to, you could still pay $2.90, but the "known cheap" stations are like $2.80 to $2.82.
Not to stay off-topic too long, but Mickey's got a point for us homeowners. My house has gas heat and last winter I was being charged as much as 90 cents/therm, even before the fuel delivery charge. Prior winters it never got above 67 cents. The wife may have to suffer through some cold hands/nose/feet and wear sweaters this winter!

Pump rape
Saw $3.10 over this way, right outside of the DC area!!! WTF? What is the reason behind the increase all of a sudden??? It's gone up nearly 75 cents a gallon since the beginning of March.
Saw a news article this morning saying that gas prices will continue to rise over the next couple of weeks until they peak toward mid/end of May. So, if the gas prices in some areas are already +/- $3.10 a gallon...the question is, what are they going to peak at? Scary stuff!
What can ya do?

Why?
What is the reason behind the increase all of a sudden???
All it takes is a little doom and gloom over in the mid-east to make the commodity traders go berzerk and drive up the futures prices.
After that starts it only takes about 24 hours for the oil companies to jack up pump prices in "response".

I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. The gas price went up yesterday to $3.18 for regular and $3.38 for premium. I fill up my TL with premium.
Other towns on this island is even higher by $.20.
Check out the price in island of Lanai...you will flip.

Paid $2.89 at Costco for 91 octane this afternoon in La Habra, Orange County SoCal. Not too sure about the gas quality at Costco, but I can't tell a difference between it and Chevron, Mobil, Unocal, etc., and it is at least 10 cents/gallon cheaper.
By the way, when on "E" and the light comes on, you have at least two gallons left, I've found.

289 a gallon 34 to fill up the tl and 68 to fill up the truck.
Way gas prices are going the truck will be resting for a while. I get the about the same amount of miles with the car to the truck 250-300 on a tank

Keep Right Except to Pass
Tuesday it was $2.99 a gallon at the stations I pass en route to work. Today it ranges from $3.01 to $3.06. I'm going to try to stick it out until this weekend so that I can refuel when I go to play golf—the course is one county over and gas is usually 15¢ a gallon cheaper there.
I suppose gas is still cheaper than soda, though. A 12-ounce soda costs 60¢ out of the machine at my office (5¢ an ounce). I believe there are 128 ounces in a gallon. An ounce of gas at $3.06 a gallon is therefore 2.39¢, or 28.68¢ for 12 ounces.

Canadian supplies
In Alberta, we have a supply that has the potential to rival Saudia Arabia.
I guess that means the U.S. and Canada are doomed to go to war over it...

Drifting
I remember watching on the discovery channel, that there exists a process to convert coal into oil. They said if the US were to use this process, they would have more oil reserves than canada and saudi arabia put together. However, they said it was cheaper to import oil than convert coal into oil.
As for the canadian oil. Are you referring to (I forget the term), the oil that is mixed in with sand? I heard it is pretty expensive to extract the oil from that.
