well they said it isn't coming down anytime soon. They say the speculation is what's driving it even higher. Its like a mutal fund.. There are company investing their retirement portfolios in gas and oil on the idea the price will rise. Everyone is in on it.. making it go even higher...
Hell I invested in oil stocks back in january. It has already gone up about 50%...

I think it has to do with the fact that both China and Russia are using much more
oil, and the US has not reduced its use at all, its likely gone up a lot over
the last few years.
There is a fixed supply, with only the Saudi's having the ability to increase
production somewhat.
China is driving up the cost of a lot of stuff, scrap steel, copper, oil, etc.
Their demand is large and growing.
Its lucky things have slowed down slightly over there, but a fight over resources
is in the picture at some future time...
Russia used to export oil, but is using more and more themselves, as their
economy improves.
We wont get hybrids and alternitive sources of energy untill the fuel prices get
high enough for long enough to drive people to look for other ways of doing
things...
The rest of the world pays $4.00 to $6.00 a gallon of gas, plus lots of
road taxes, and has been paying that for a long time, so why should the US
be special with under $2.00 a gallon gas????
Maybe thats why we use 40% or more of the worlds oil?

GM and Ford are really going to have problems. How well positioned are they to do without the margin that they have with the big vehicles? Glad my TL gets pretty good milage.
...Must Stay off the gas, repeat.

I paid 2.83 for 91 octane at Safeway in Livermore, CA. The street price was $2.89 but less $.06 for the club card. This is the cheapest I have found in the Tri-valley area.

Uhhh... The last I checked, 1 USD = 1.20 CAD. Thus 1.05 CAD = 95 cents USD. However, if you are talking about 3.50 CAD, then that equals 3.33 USD, which is definitely high.

Looked at a 4 cyl Accord window sticker lately? They're rated around 25 city, 34 highway. Even higher for the Civic, a car closer to what a majority of the Non-North American world population drives.

Paid a little under 2k for the tires (Yokohama Avid) and wheels. The wheels are custom 18" Enkei PK6 with ceramic inlays...re-painted with OEM Acura Anthracite gray with chrome inner lining. Thanks for noticing!

Hehe, I stand corrected/clarified then.. On a different note, since you are in Vancouver, couldn't you just drive over the border to get gas?

This is an interesting thread, I would like the see where the posts continue until the point where we are saying 'just paid 5.00 a gallon for premium.... wait hold on... for a second there I though I just said I paid 5 bucks for gas!! no.. yea.. I did... "
I wonder what will be the breaking point for the world. I wonder what it will have to get to before LA decides to riot (LA loves to riot). oh well

Last time I filled up I was just over $30 when 93 octane was at 2.499/gallon, that was almost 2 weeks ago, and I am do for another fill up in the next 3 or 4 days. Prices since then have jumped to 2.799 for 93 octane. So my next fill up will cost me about 3 dollars more. Must be nice to be an oil exec....

The gov't should suspend or halve gas taxes once regular pops over $3.

That's why. I don't understand people who say it's about darned time we paid more. Do they not realize how much slack in the world, the US picks us? Yeah, cut us a discount on energy costs, mmmkay?

Just got back from Niagara Falls Ontario today. The per litre price equates to about $5/Gallon US! Pretty amazing increase in price when considering that there is no shortage of oil.
The sad part is that refineries are not running at their limit, in spite of what US Govt officials have said.
Why is it that the price of less refined diesel and home oil is skyrocketing? And, why are we all sheep and not demanding answers and some relief from of government leaders?
I don't get it!

Yesterday SUNCO 91 in Ottawa was $1.10CDN/ litre, there are 3.79 litres /US gallon==$4.17CDN/US Gallon at exchange rate of .82====$3.42/US Gallon. SUNOCO 94 was $3.54/US Gallon. The price will continue to rise due to effect of supply & demand...
