Osram CBI Owners - Looking for a matching switchback
#44
I got the VVME 5000K fogs off eBay, and I think they match the CBIs well. I'll try to snap a picture to show you. I can tell you the fog kit seems like a quality piece, way better than the crap I had been using before it.

It's too bad you don't want to shell out a little more cash and get the Tritons. They are hands down the best. Nothing else compares. I tried some tower LED's once and when I saw how dim they were during the day they came right out. It doesn't look like you cheaped out on anything else for your car, why do it with LED's? :-D I literally enjoy my Tritons everyday. Just seeing that instant on off shining in street signs or other cars looks bad ass. Plus with the tritons they look great in the housing too since all you see is a small clear lens. With those huge things they look kind of like an eye sore in the housing. Just my opinion.
But either way the car and lights look great in your pic!

I was very happy with the quality of the HID fog kit, and I've never had an issue with them.

And to be honest, I can't consider $80 (paid $60 on sale) turn signal bulbs to be cheaping out. These things seem pretty damn bright. Driving around in today's sunny weather, I had no problem seeing the amber lit up brightly off cars in front of me. I wanted a bright bulb that matched my other lights, and that's what these turned out to be, so I'm happy as could be.

Thanks for the link. Is there a reason why you went with that ebay brand VVME instead of DDMTuning?
And I agree. I also have Triton v3 switchbacks for the front and yes they are bright and so on, but the Platinum series turn signals that KJ TL-S are also VERY bright. They blow any tower style LED turn signals out the water.
I can literally say that those Platinum series turn signals are the 2nd brightest thing next to Tritons for a fraction of the cost.
My brother has the 3157 platinum switchbacks on his 09 camry and those are really bright. I also have platinum 7440 red rear turn signals and they are very very bright.
I previously had a 68 red SMD LED bulb for my rear turn signals. During the day it was hard to see my car turn signal at a distance (100+ feet). Now that I have the platinums in I don't have to worry about cars not being able to see my signal from a distance because I know they can clearly see it. Almost as bright as the brake lights.
I said it before and I'll say it again. For red turn signals the Tritons output 210 lumens and cost $100. The platinum series output 170 lumens and cost $50. Price per lumen the Platinum series wins hands down.

And I went with the VVME purely because I saw another review somewhere saying they matched the CBIs well. And I heard DDMTuning had gone downhill, plus I think they had expensive, slow shipping if I recall. Didn't know anything else about the VVMEs, but I was very impressed with the kit. Components seem to be very high quality - here is a pic of the beefy VVME kit compared to the crappy kit I bought off a former member here:

are those only available for the type s bulb socket? cant seem to find it for the 7443 base bulb
#54
You're correct. Those platinum series are not available for 7440/7443 socket. That's the reason why I got the Triton V3. If they made the Platinum series for the base model 7443 I would have got those instead.

KJ has a perfect match
I tried HIDExtra, their 5k is no way near CBIs
More bluish
I tried Kensun 5k from Amazon, matched perfect perfect with CBI
Last one we got for brother, looks like 4300 though. Can't really really trust these

Bought 4 Kensun 5k
Last one came 4300k color, rest were perfect white
Here old some pictures that I found
Kensun 5k upper fogs, CBI Osram lows
NO FOG
FOG ON
3 of the 5k kits from Kensun came exactly same color
We even retrofitted 2 lenses into friends 49cc moped and used 5k Kensun hids
Great customer service too
I bought their 3k bulb, again from Amazon
They came out green instead of yellow
Posted 1 Star review, they called and emailed the next day, and sent me a new ones
Looks yellow but it's not
So I would get 5k Kensun from amazon to match CBIs but what KJ posted sounds better I guess... it's cheaper

how much are those kensun kits shipped with a relay harness?
I've also heard the same about ddm tuning kits being not as good quality as they used to, but honestly I don't see a difference.
I've been buying hid kits from them since 2010. they used to be based in California than. I bought about 3 hid kits from them in 2011 and they were working fine. The 3 cars that had the hid kit in them were either wrecked or sold with the hid kit still working.
within the past 6 months I've already installed 4 other ddm tuning hid kits and to this day not a single problem, although 6 months isn't really a long time.
Installed one in a 2010 Camaro, 05 300C, 07 accord, 09 camry.
I purchased all of them for family & friends with a relay harness for $50-$55 shipped. Shipping is from China so the only drawback is it takes almost 2 weeks to receive them.
All the kits I bought are 5k and they look pretty white to me.
I have Morimoto 3five 5k bulbs in my TL, just installed a 5k ddm tuning hid kit for my brother Thursday night and his ddm tuning kit and I can't even tell the color difference between mine and his. Light output is also bright.
Keep in mind that I have oem ballasts

Kensun shipped is expensive actually and no relay harness. You just plug it in to oem connection. Usually like $60
That's good to know. Should've asked to you at first
DDM 5k matches to Morimoto 5k huh? Nice
I am using Morimoto 3five 5k on my TL now too.
I might buy a 3k kit for my upper fogs during this winter. I'll try DDM tuning.
Using relay harness, you mean you get the power from the battery and install a totally different button inside the car?
I do have one relay harness came with the Inspire Fogs but I've never used it. I just plug in the hid kit to the oem socket (upper fogs)

noo using a relay harness does get power directly from the battery but there is absolutely no need to wire it up to a switch. the relay harness plugs into your factory headlight connectors. It uses the headlight connector as a switch signal to give the HIDs power from the battery.
It sounds harder than it really is but honestly it's easy. Every hid kit I installed (7+) I always use a relay harness. it prevents flickering or sometimes one bulb comes on and the other stays off so you have to turn your HIDs off and back on again for both to light up.
A relay harness solves that problem. also it's a safety net for the electrical system of the car. if anything bad should happen the fuse in the relay harness will open up and prevent your factory electrical wiring from getting fried
