Osram CBI Owners - Looking for a matching switchback
As the title states, I'm looking for input from current Osram CBI owners on what switchbacks they are running to match the HIDs.
I already have decent quality 6000K switchbacks, and I am trying to avoid ordering another set only to have them be the same color as what I started with. Also, I don't plan on paying for the $140 Tritons either, so that option is out. Let me know what you guys have come up with!

^^^You know which ones? VLEDs seems to change their bulbs pretty frequently. The only non-tritons I see are these $80 bulbs, is this the type that you have?

Damn story, that woulda been perfect.
And viet - thanks for that recommendation. I'm guessing they might work out well. I'll probably wait for one of their sales, maybe they'll have a labor day sale

Yea, saw the 10% coupon. Probably will try to wait out a better coupon. If a good one comes along again, like the 35% one, I may opt for the Tritons. I noticed they had a lifetime warranty, which is comforting. Wouldn't ever need to deal with this again if I got those.

TegoTL said in some other thread that the VVME 5000k fogs were a great match, so I ordered those. Just got here yesterday, but I won't be installing until I do my headlights, possibly this weekend.
Hopefully the 5000k tritons work out for you, I was reading they are a bit yellow and the 6000k are actually a slightly better match to 5000k bulbs.

that's something I don't understand. I have also read that many members say 5k tritons appear yellow.
Well I have triton 5k and they are far from yellow to me. at night they are pure white no yellow at all. during the day they do appear to look a tinge of purple when looking at the bulb head on.
However when looking at them at night head on they don't have the slightest bit of yellow to them at all. The light output shining on the ground also appears pure white.

trust me they aren't. the ones I have are the Gen2 v3 tritons. the ones that people claimed to look yellow are the 1st gen tritons.
I have 5k morimoto headlight bulbs and my triton switchbacks match it very well.
I also have the 10xb LED 850 lumen 9005 drl from vled in 5k and they match the tritons 5k... no yellow at all

This is all good info, thank you vietx. I was looking at both the tritons and those DRL bulbs.
I was reading that triton thread last night though, it started to make me a little concerned about ordering them. Is it the minority who are having trouble with them? It seemed like quite a few people were a little annoyed with them continuously breaking...

Do you have the CBI's in yet? The box says 5500K, so once broken in they might be really close to your switchbacks you have now. I don't run switchbacks so I can't comment on that.

Interesting...I may just hold off and see how much they differ before picking anything up. I have a feeling they will be different though, as I can certainly see a hint of blue in my switchbacks.

if you look at the old triton posts you will notice the posts are dated from December thru May. those people had the gen 1 tritons.
Recently they replaced the gen1 with a newer gen2 model. This was within the last 2-3 months.
All the complaints about problems seemed to be linked to the gen1 tritons. Have yet to read any problems concerning the gen 2 models.

OP:
I have a set of 6K switchbacks from V-LEDs if you're interested:

You have a Type-S so these are these ones for you. When I had them in my 6th Gen Accord, I thought they were pretty white but can't comment on whether or not they will match the CBI's. If you're interested, let me know, we can work out a trial to see if you like them or something.

Hey man, just sent you a PM. I'm interested, would love to be able to test em out to get a better idea. Just like someone said above, the CBIs are actually rated at 5500k on the packaging. Once mine break in some more, they might be a little closer to your switchbacks.

PM responded! Would not mind at all shipping them out to you to test run them. I loved them on my 6th Gen Accord. BTW not sure if this is matters but this is the Type 2: meaning they are white and then when the turn signal is activated, they only blink amber and off as opposed to amber > white > amber >white.
Let me know if this is okay!

when I installed the switchbacks it required for me to remove the front bumper so I could properly mount the control boxes and remove the headlights so I could take them inside and sit down to figure out what size gaskets were needed to fit the bulb properly.
I also had to use scotch-locks on the white wire from the tritons to connect to the ballast + wire so it would dim my white parking lights by 50% when the headlights are activated.
What I'm trying to say is it wasn't a simple 10-20 minute job like just swapping bulbs out for LEDs. It probably took me a good 2 hours slowly taking my time and perfectly mounting the control boxes.
Probably took Wojo a little longer than he expected or he just forgot about us lol

I also just realized that when I unlock my car these tritons light up sooo bright it looks amazing. You literally cant look into the led or it hurts your eyes. Especially driving, from the side it looks mint. In my opinion well worth the 150. I might just purchase the rear turn signal ones too
