Opinions on tint?

Here in Portland, Oregon, it's hot and sunny about two months out of the year. Do you think I should get tint for my car? 05 SSM/Ebony/AT. Thanks

Well I live in Portland too and I have tint on all my cars. I think with as much glass as the TL has it makes since. It really helps cools down the cars interior on the not so common hot days and plus it makes the car look better IMO.

I took both cars to Matt's Precision Tinting in Vancouver WA. They are reasonably priced and do a great job. Also they guarantee the tint for as long as you own your car. IMO=In my opinion

I heard about small bubbles in the tint being normal, but you need hot sun to get rid of the them. should i wait until next year so i can dry it out during the summer months? I wouldn't want bubbles on my window for 6 months or so.

I live in Portland too. If anyone knows a good tint place with decent pricing, let me know please. I'm actually deciding what I should get right now. I'm saving up for either rear wing spoiler(or a-spec kit), intake, or a tint. I will most likely end up with tint first.

My advice would be to call Matt and see what he thinks. I don't it would be a problem. When Matt did the install I didn't notice even one bubble in the tint. And I was looking for them.

Whether or not you wish to tint your windows, that is a personal preference that only **you** will know. Asking your fellow TL's might mean that you might not desire to tint your windows.

If you do however, decide to tint your windows I would recommend Huber Optik on your TL. It is expensive but it keeps the heat out. Pretty amazing stuff. Last week I had the HO tint put on my 2004 330i ZHP and I am very pleased.

insmanblue, thanks for the reply.

eduardo, psychologist? asking fellow tl's might prevent me from getting a bad tint job, just like it prevented me from getting ripped off at the dealership. KNOWLEDGE = POWER! That's for the advice on the HO. I'll look into it.

Small bubbles are normal for a week or so. If they don't go away its a lousy tint job and they should redo it. Leaving it in the sun just reduces the time by a couple of days but even out of the sun they should disappear in a couple of weeks maximum. I had one small bubble that went away in 2 days (not left in the sun).

donkey,

my sales rep told me to call vivian at Le Car tinting. he said they do a really good job. I called and she told me they have to order an extra part to for tls called moleskin. i've seen it in the forums, but have no idea what it's for. anyway, she said the tl would cost $225.

two days after i talked to her, my dad asks me to drop some stuff off to a auto body shop in se portland. i did it and asked the body shop owner if he does tinting, he said no, but recommended me to go to Le Car. He says they do an awesome job. Far better than anybody else. I told him that's who the guys at Acura referred me to. And he reply they do b/c they know Le Car will do a good job.

$225 is a bit steep in my book when others run about $175, but I would rather pay the extra $50 for piece of mind and know they won't do a shotty job. I'll let you know how it turns out when I do it, but I probably wont get time until nov.

If $225 includes installing the moleskin (felt like material), that's a great price.

That is a fair price, about what I paid for mine with moleskin installed. The additional amount covers the moleskin and the labor to remove the door panels and install the moleskin.
