OPINIONS NEEDED: which one should i buy?
Which one should i get, they are both black on black 6 speed with navi.
Differences are:
2004 is 25700 after tax title and tags, it is of course an 04, 22k miles and I MUST finance 20k for 6 months, dont know the rate yet
2005 is 27300 so its 1600 more than the 04 after tax title and tags. Its of course an 05, but it has 26,500 miles, so 4,500 more than the 04 and no financing needed.
so the 05 is 1600 more with 4500 more miles.
Which one should i get?? or neither.
If i get the 04 i would stick the 1600 more into a warranty or mods, remember this 04 is a LATE 04 model, purchased in dec 04, so 1 year 4 months left on warranty.
and i know there is problems with the 04 but im not sure if its that big of a deal where i should avoid 04's.

With the 05, you get some more warranty time despite a little more mileage. Also, some folks have had some problems with the 04's like falling headliners and rattles (obviously, this was in a relatively small number of cars). Personally, I would go with the 05- you indicated that for the 04, you would be forced to finance for at least 6 months, so you don't know if the finance company is going to gouge you with a high rate, even if for only 6 months. Whatever money savings you gain with the 04 may be lost in financing.

One last thing... which car is in better condition? I'm assuming your question about which car to buy is based on 2 equal condition cars. The price doesn't seem too steep- I just checked KBB.com and nada.com for private party sales prices and they come pretty close to what you would be paying.

the 05 is missing one or two wheel caps that go over the rim, and the 04's interior looks a little more used (not sure if its cuz the 04 is inside and the flash on the camera brings out the worst)

2005, the 04 was year one, too many squeaks and rattles and there was even a tranny TSB. Funny 05 was the only year 3G I have not owned. I had 04, 06 and 07 then just got a 08 Type-S. Personally I find the 06 to be the best built, virtually had no issues or anything.

Too late to edit previous post... so...
Is it just me, or does it seem like you're getting a better deal for the 05? The page shows the 04 for $19,995 and the 05 for $24,995? From what you're telling us is that, the "2004 is $25700 after tax title and tags" and the "2005 is $27300"
Maybe there's more to it that what i can see from my end?
Maybe you can get them to drop the price of the 05 a little more?

the 04 is 19995 "+" i love these 2995 down payment, so its 23k...
i mentioned 05 has no center caps because thats kinda stupid, that someone never put them back on. i might try to talk the 05 down some more, but they are both firm.

good response on the poll, but would like more comments on why you chose what you did...im hearing only early model 04's are having the problems...this 04 was a late model i believe, sold in dec 04. im calling both dealerships today, to see what the financing of the 04 would be, to see whats missing on the 05 and to see how the tires are on both cars and more on the condition. then i will try and negotiate on the 05, if they dont move and everythings good on the 04, im gonna go with that...I think.

elaborate which issues? covered/not covered
Remember im in somewhat of a tight budget, and 1500 more for a car with more miles is quite a bit...still workin on a deal, both are good.

I have a real question about the "must be financed" in big letters. I'm guessing what they are saying is it must be financed by them. In which case they could give you a really crappy rate which might run down that $1600 rather quickly. You say the '07 wouldnt have to be financed? Is that because of the $ you already have? Or because it dosn't have to be financed by them? If you have the cash, it's a no brainer, you dont want payments if you don't have to. If you are going to finance either way, you might want to look around a little at what kind of rates you can get and what kind of rates the '04 dealer is going to charge you. You might find that with a better rate, the '05 is the cheaper car.

im in talks with them to see what rate im going to get, he said "the top tier" w/e that means is the rate...i have the cash, but i will get a loan through family and pay roughly 5-6% so they dont have to pay taxes on gains and i get a better rate. once he tells me the rate (tomorrow) ill make my decision, im not a big fan of the dealer for the 04 ...
anyway another twist to it, the 2005 warranty expires 2 months b4 the 04, it was an early 05 model compared to a late 04 model...so thats another point for the 04...and the 05 DOES come with floor mats and center caps.

wont the 6 yr 70k mile warranty fully cover the Tranny and other engine problems??? that will make it expire late 2010. if something goes wrong after that i'll just suck it up and pay or it will be sold around 2010-2011.

If you are on a tight budget the tires and brakes are going to eat you up, especailly if you go with 18's. I'd plan on budgeting $1k per year of ownership for rubber and Brembo brake parts. If money is going to be that tight get a TSX.

well im used to spending money on brakes, i dont drive all that much, maybe 10-12k a year, so im guessing brakes last 12-24k miles, or am i off...how much are brakes?
tires, well from november/december-march april ill have my 17s on with cheap winter tires...thats not a concern with me, i plan on modding, so i expect to spend a couple g's a year on the car, but i want to start off right as im a good financial planner.

Did you test drive any of these vehicle? It sounds like everything you did was over the phone. I think it's imperative that you give it a whirl before you decide which one to go for.
BTW, I was looking at that 04 from the Infiniti dealership. It was ok. We decided not to get it coz my wife didn't want the manual tranny.
I ended up getting an 04 with Auto tranny and the built in Navi from Pennington, NJ which was close to my house.
Good Luck with the purchase.

You might want to test drive both- that will most likely help you in deciding between the two. Don't wait and make a decision simply based on pricing and then discover it drives like crap.

im not, but i'd rather pick the better one, go and drive it, if i dont like it then ill go look at the other one...for now its either one or none, because if i request my 500 dollar deposit on the 04 back there is no way they will hold it for me again. the 05 salesman is WAY better, so i might go through him, plus no hidden fees like the infiniti dealer.
