What's up guys?..

So I went to Paragon Acura this weekend to possibly trade up my 04 TL for a 2010 TL SHAWD Tech with the 19" rims. The online asking price was about 34k - 5k miles on it. I get there and they say 39k, plus they'll give me 5k for my 04. I told them to suck my balls. literally! Off I go to Acura of valley Stream in Long Island. They have this 07 TL Type with 41k miles on it. Rides completely different from my 04 obviously and I like it! see attached link http://vsacura.com/New-York/For-Sale...r-Car/6142797/

Im able to get the 3.9% APR on this bad boy plus the dealer is giving me 10,200 on the trade in. by the way my car has 74k miles on it. My question is...does it make sense to get the same car and lock myself into another car loan? Financially things are great. Do you guys think the asking price is good? Does it make any sense to trade in my 04 for a car that is only 3 years older?

thanks

depends on what you want.

what's wrong with the 04 you have? do you want to have a car payment? is getting a type-s a must have b/c had it been available in 04 you would have bought that? why would you even consider owning a 4GTL (i still can't get over the looks)?? there is nothing wrong with getting the type-s and trading your 04, but you need to ask yourself what you really want and weigh out the pros/cons of keeping the 04 or getting the type-s.

personally, if there is nothing wrong with the 04 aside from its an 04 with 70K miles on it and no car payment...i'd keep the 04. different story if you've had nothing but problems with the 04 and you want to get rid of it, but you still love the styling of the 3G...then upgrade to the type -s. yeah i would have bought the type-s if it was available in 05...but it wasn't. if your heart really says i want a type-s, then you have to make a decision that is best for your situation. yeah i'm making you think, b/c its ultimately YOUR decision to make. some guys are gonna say, get the type-s, others keep the 04.

i'm trying to be objective here, hope this helps you in your decision. good luck.

You were right to tell Paragon Acura to suck your balls! They and Acura of Brooklyn have some of the worst Acura dealer reputations in the country.

If you're trading up from an '04 to an '07 to get the navi system that your '04 doesn't have, then YES it's worth it.

Good luck !

No car purchase is a good investment as the value sinks like a rock, but if money is not a problem purchase what you want, regardless of the model. At least the 3G Type-S was only make for the 2 years and may be considered unique, certainly not to be confused with collectable.

If you like it go for it but I'd try for a manual :P. More fuel efficient and fun to drive

It does not make sense to trade any car in. You are much better off selling it on your own. Just look at your net bottom line. After 3 more years, the 07-S will likely hold more value than the 04 if that makes you feel better.

If I was going to sell mine, I would pick up a 4th Gen TL or a 2009 GS-350 (303 hp; AWD).

thanks for the feedback guys. My 04 has a nav & full a-spec body kit. Car has been paid off for almost 2 yrs now. I probably spent well over 1.5k in repairs over the last 6 months. New Starter, a punch of pulleys, crankshaft, ac compressor, etc. The reasons I would get into the 07 are (1) Type-S are sexy & (2) Extended warranty from Acura, but only for 3 years. After speaking with my fiance, she told me if we're locking ourselves into another car loan, make sure it's a newer car. She actually likes the newer TL's. They drive really nice and is a solid vehicle. I looked at Lexus & Infiniti and find there vehicles to be quite boring. Acura's engines are so quiet when you walk up to them. Those other manufacturers sound like a washing machine. hahahaha

I was in the same boat. I traded my 04 tl in for a 08 type s with 26k on the ODO. Both manual shift of course
To me, it was worth it. The type S is everything you already love in your current 3G but better. Better styling, faster, quieter, better seats, better interior--just better.

I look back on my 04 and think it looks dated in comparison. The small changes that they made to the TL-S definitely "update" the style IMO--inside and out.
Perhaps in 5 years I will trade in my TL-S for a 5th gen TL.

I agree that the 07 navi is alot nicer than the 04, but like everyone else... i think that if you are going to pay more money, make a bigger upgrade. Unless you want a stick as well and dropping the auto.

39k for a 2010 sh awd with 5k on it? a year ago they told me 38k flat for a new one and the next day i walked in it was 38k +800..destination and prep fees which honestly made no sense since the car i wanted was already in their warehouse.. i walked out and went to Acura of Valley Stream.. got them to come down to 37,250 with the remote starter.. long story short i ended up buying an 07 type s lol

I'm gonna pass on this deal, otherwise i'll have buyers remorse.

Depends on what you're looking for. Anything wrong with your 04?

What were driving prior to the TYPE-S? How much did you pay? Mileage?

Nothing is wrong with my 04, just feel the need to upgrade.

What condition is your car ? Any accidents ?

The $10,200. number is Black Book's wholesale value for "average" condition. A "clean" car is worth $11,100 wholesale.

Also, Acura's financing rate on CPO TL's is 1.9% (excellent credit score) for up to 36 months. You would only pay sales tax on the difference of the trade-in value and the buy price of the replacement car in NY.

Not trying to sway you....just putting the facts out there for you.

pass. I'm not knocking the S because undoubtedly I would have bought it had it been available in 05 but I'm not going to go running in to trade my paid off car just to get in another loan for what is essentially the same damn car.

Go big (bigger upgrade) or go home.
