One win and one loss... but not sure.

Finally had a chance to put my 04 Base 5AT (see sig for mods) up against a couple cars. Friday coming home from a long work day I hit some traffic on I-95. I look over and there is a Black TL with a young kid behind the wheel and I rolled down my window to ask him if he had any engine mods. He told me he had a K&N intake and his car was an 05 6MT. I didn't have the heart to tell him he was probably robbing his car of power with the K&N. I did tell him to check out Acurazine though. We held up traffic a little so we had a nice gap ahead of us and I said lets see what you got. I was in second and we hit the third beep and I pulled a car ahead as I heard him bounce off rev limiter shifting. We only got up to about 85mph and my exit came up.
The next little bout was today against my Bro-in-law with his 07 G35x. He was in front of me on the highway and traffic was kind of heavy so I stayed behind him. We were on our phones (Blue tooth) so he counted to three and we both hammered down. It was very close but we couldn't go to fast or far with the traffic, so needles to say when the conditions are safer there will be a re-match.
It was nice to see that my 04 with 172k can still hang

Good runs! Rookie driver in the 6MT though lol but it's nice to see another manual!

With your mods and the added weight in the G35, you should edge him out. Good luck and report back.

I'm not too confident that I'll do well against the G35 side by side. Even though it's heavier, stock and AT as well, it does have quite a HP advantage over my TL, even with my mods. It will still be fun to try if we can ever find a clear stretch of road so we can get over 80mph.

So I confirmed a sad truth. I had another run with my Bro-inlaw in his 07 G35x and the result was a little disheartening.
First and second gear were neck and neck, by third gear he started to pull and by fourth he was two cars ahead. We let off at 115 but there was no need to even get to that speed. We had a looong open stretch so we figured we could take it there safely.
Time to figure out what mods next.

I am surprised you were even that close! They run high 13's stock! I would have expected him to pull hard on you off the line
