One less TL out there...
As I'm sitting here filling out the transfer paperwork and sending my title to AAA Insurance, I thought I might post as a past-Acurazine(r?) the final story of my 05 TL.
Last Friday morning after rains the previous night I walked out to my car which had the alarm going off for some reason. Once I opened the door something wasn't right but everything looked good initially - until I sat in the seat that felt cold, and saw the cupholders between the front seats 3/4 full of water.
Apparently the lake in the park I live across from overflowed so much that my car was submerged to about 5 inches above the butt-cushion of the seats! I tried the ignition twice frantically, and began swearing at anything I could.
I've since had the car towed, actuator inspected, and should be receiving a check from AAA for 18k next week. As I've thought of what to do with the money, I keep coming back to the same conclusion of finding another TL. It's a great car and there's nothing else out even close to this price range that I feel compares. So as I sadly report a fine machine has just been retired, I am currently in a search for the following:
While there was a bit more custom to my old friend these are the most valuable to me. I'm searching websites and calling dealerships, but if anyone out there knows of this car available for sale somewhere, I would greatly appreciate the info!
And for all those who have TLs reading this - take a good look at your car the next time you're in it as you'll be very sad when it's gone!!
-IGGUS
(PS - Since this has happened I absolutely recommend AAA Insurance. It was far and away the least expensive of any of the half dozen insurers I called earlier this year and switched from Geico. I had an AAA card, which gave an extra discount on the AAA Insurance rate also, and without having to ask anything about flood insurance when I signed up, my regular coverage had the car looked at and money coming faster than I expected and without hassle. AAA +++!)

Thanks all for condolences, I'll bring that up in the Eulogy
I'd go Type-S but I'm sure that a few thousand more, really don't have the $$$ at the moment.
And what's ABP/RBP?

ABP= abyss blue pearl- 04 & 05
RBP= royal blue pearl. This was a 06 color only.
Essentially- the same colors.

That sux, sorry to hear. My sister in-law lost her car (POS) as well when a nearby creek flooded.
I was reviewing my insurance recently because I was concerned I didn't have comprehensive (which I did). So I inquired with the agent about how the car was valued, I was making cosmetic mods and upgrades to the car, etc. and she said that I was covered for an additional $1000 worth of same, so keep my receipts and document if I ever need to claim. It may be worth it to see if your policy had a similar provision in case you can recover the cost of any mods of you have the expenses documented.
Good luck in your search for a new ride!

I guess I'm crazy, I'm hoping someone rear-ends me and totals my TL. I hope my TL's totaled as long as the other person's at fault.
But for it to die in a situation like yours sucks man, good luck to you on your search for another. Also, why not get a 6MT type-S? And most importantly, don't "settle". Get the TL that you feel is the right one.

Good luck finding a replacement TL, op. Sucks to hear that. What a terrible way to have a car go.

sorry to hear about your car, but looks like you made out pretty good. 18k for an 05 TL sounds like a lot, If I was you, I'd use that money down on a used Type-S and finance the 3-5k difference and pay that baby off!

May have seen this one, car from Wisconsin with the hard wintery conditions and pinstripping, but that can be removed:

51,200 exact.
Yes, I actually saw this one thanks, and another who's pretty local to me (North NJ) with the right specs. This '06 with 85k and the '05 ASpec with 105k that's local for sale for 14.5 are tempting, but I hate the thought of 30k more.... or double the mileage I had on mine, and being the third or fourth owner.... With no warranty and even Acura won't sell me a warranty/service plan if the car's over 80k, I'm a little hesitant on both.
As much as the Type-S sounds nice and all, I wasn't in the market for a new car. At all. So I really don't have 3-5k to work with, as nice as that sounds I really don't think it's possible. So I will continue the search!
Thanks all!

Sorry to hear about all this. We had quite a few cars towed in that day of the storm. One needs an engine, one needed a PCM, and one was totalled due to the amount of water inside. That being said, we just got an 08 Type S 6MT traded in last week. It's only the 2nd MT Type S that we have had traded in at the dealership. Black with the black/gray interior. Low miles. Here's the link off our website:
http://www.gojones.com/inventoryDisp...rent=1&size=10
And I know they'll sell it for less then that price that is listed on there. The address is on there too in case you want to figure out how far it is from you.

And while it's a distance, this is definitely close enough that I could make the drive if it were the right one... Thank again tho

'04 TL w/ Navi
Was your car ABP? Do you know if they took it to a junk yard / if you could pick it? I'm just curious because i'm in PA / NY and I've got an '04 with a cracked rear bumper.

UPDATE:
Still looking for the perfect replacement. Almost bit a couple times finding a near match, but I'm still looking for my baby, a ABP/Camel, 6 speed navi. I had an 05, but looking for 04-06 in good condition, looking for lower miles, etc.
Recently found this, but I'm near NYC versus this car in Santa Rosa - local for anyone?
2004 Acura TL - Hansel Acura, Santa Rosa, CA
If it's really worth it, I might still be able to grab a plane ticket, food, gas, and hotels back for less than my insurance settlement.
I've actually just found this up for sale! Saw it first on eBay in the Philly area, and now picked up by a dealership.
http://www.autoshopper.com/used-cars...PA-4385952.htm
Actually called to see if they'd send more pics and what condition the car was in, any accidents, etc. The guy starts saying the body's in great condition, leather is still nice, everything works great no accidents, but.... the car's been... uhm... it's gotten wet and... there's been... well, the car's been in the water. But it drives great!
Of course I'm just sitting there laughing to myself as he couldn't bring himself to say it was flooded up to your waist.
He did send me some pics where I even see my old parking permit on the mirror. So, for $13,500 if someone wants to try and buy it to part out, you know where to find her!
