OK, Once and for all... Final ClearBra discussion!

Guys, I have been reading all these threads about the ClearBra and it seems to me that the costs are not worth the trouble... I love my finish on my car, but the idea of extra $$$ to get this plastic wrapping on my car that can get hazy and dull doesn't appeal to me... Your input is greatly appreciated it... Maybe convince me to get it?

Tim,

Do you drive to the city alot?? Do you park your car in the street?
If you answer to these two questions NO, then don't get the clearbra.
If Yes, then you should get the clearbra. You can ask how notorious the city people can be. Just ask DMZ....especially in NY. I remember how these NC people park their Buick and just kept on squeezing into a parking space while I'm standing there in front of my parked car. Luckily, my front plates sticks out a bit.

Originally, I didn't want the clear bra, but have changed my opinion after several small chips on my front bumper (presumably from rocks as I rarely parallel park) began to peel.....the paint on this car isn't the best. Anyway, my dealer agreed to repaint the bumper one time as a goodwill gesture, so I'll have clear bra installed shortly thereafter to prevent further peeling.

I don't have the cloudy or hazy effect on my clearbra. I have only had it installed for 2 months now but I can tell you that it has saved some chips and if I had installed from Day one it would have save me a couple others.

One other benefit is that the bugs seem to wash off easier, but then again it might be because I wash the TL twice a week.

If you don’t want to spend the money on a ClearBra, then don’t get one. But don’t say it is because the “ClearBra can get hazy and dull”. Everything I have read about ClearBras indicates that they last pretty well indefinitely. Much earlier material did have some yellowing problems on light colored cars, but that has been corrected for a year or so now.

I purchased a new 95 Acura Legend coupe . I have a 25 mile commute and noted paint chips within the first couple months. By the time I had 100,000 miles on the Legend, the paint on the front of the car was ruined. I have had my TL with the Xpel ClearBra for 8 months and have driven it over 8,500 miles. As of yesterday it has no rock chips . The ClearBra is a great investment.

ABsolutely good investment, if you'd ask me. I think Expell also gaurantees against getting hazzy and yellow, if that is the only reason keeping you away from install. Is it expensive? Yes it is but it's worth every penny. I'd rather have $600 installed to keep my front protected. It is upto you, you have to decide the treadoff between painting, protecting with bra or live with all the chips. All the best.
