Oil Life question
Oil Life question
So I drive my car very little. I am talking prolly around 3-5k a year. I own a 2008 acura tl type s. I changed my oil about a month and a half ago and prolly put on about 500 miles at most. Oil life is down to 90%. This is fine i am just curious does it go by time or mileage?
It goes by time, mileage, rpms, cold starts, operating temps, etc, etc. Many parameters.
I wouldn't worry about it dropping to 90%.
As a matter of fact, if 10% = 500 miles, then 100% = 5,000 miles, which sounds about right to me.
BTW - your Owners Manual, iirc, say change the oil and filter at least once per year regardless of mileage/MID.
