Oil issue

I have been using mobil 1 on my 2005. This oil typically lasts 7500 miles. My mid shows required oil change around 5500 miles. I don't drive fast and I know that the mid keeps track of oil changes by the RPM. If this is the case, there's no point in putting in Mobil 1 as opposed to conventional oil. Should change the oil at 7500 intervals irrespective of what the mid shows?

The Maintenance Minder system is more accurate than a fixed service interval. Oil type alone does not dictate the actual service interval as there are many factors that will shorten oil life and require a more frequent service interval, regardless of oil type.

all oil change reminders, in general, are targeted for the "mindless masses", which is 90% of regular folks that would otherwise forget to change their oil.

Nearly all of these reminders are "geared" towards conventional modern oil (non synthetic).

I recommend using your Mobil1 and change it when the MID indicates. Just "suck up" the difference for the sake of convience. I, myself, use Mobil1 with 5,000 mile intervals.
