Oil changes and types

Probably has been covered before, but, who out there changes his/her own oil? I live 50 miles from my dealer and have always done my own oil changes. How difficult is the car to lift and brace with jack stands? What viscosity of oil is recommended? I know the panel displays % of time/miles left on the current oil - how is that computed? Time, distance, viscosity, ???? TIA as usual.

Oh Ted, they may flame you for this post, lots of chatter already about this subject. I will keep my reply limited to - it is very easy to change the oil and filter. I prefer to use ramps to do my changes - just what I grew up with I guess - (actually homemade ramps at that). The manual says 5W-20. So much debate about what is best brand etc. Stock filter may be difficult to take off as it is very small in diameter - I had a difficult time finding a wrench to fit it - finally had to wrap some electrical tape around end to make it fatter so my smallest wrench could grab.

Piece of cake and cheaper too.

Most of what you need to know is in this thread http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80273

The MID uses mileage, time, and probably temperature to compute oil life.

While I'm writing this, I scrolled down and saw Tbone2004 has already answered some of it, so I will just add the above.
