Oil Change and Tire Rotation

I have a 2005 Acura TL and I just had the oil change and tire rotation done because of the orange A1 Service message appeared on the dash board. I had these two items done at 6,500 miles. Based on the user manual A1 indicates oil change and tire rotation. The technician put a reminder sticker to have another oil change when the odometer reaches around 10,200 miles. That means I should change the oil after another 3,500 miles? I am just curious why should we need the reminder. The car should automatically indicate when to change. If I change the oil at 10,200 miles, would it mess up the automatic service reminder?

-How often should I change the oil for the 2005 Acura TL?
Every 3000 miles or every 7000 miles?

-How often should I rotate the tires for 2005 Acura TL?
Every 7000 miles or every 15,000 miles?

Please advise. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

5,000 mile intervals seem to be the consensus for oil changes...

Tire rotation is also subjectable but 5K-8K miles is the normal range.
15K would be a long time.

Unless you're tires or rims are uni-directional (not true on any of the TL OEM tires or wheels) you can do a cross-rotation. Here is that rotation technique

LF = Left Front, RF = Right Front,...

position
old new
LF -> RR
RF -> LF
RR -> RF
LR -> LF

Actually, the owner's manual specifies the following for non-directional tires (page 223 of 2004 owner's manual):

left front to left rear
right front to right rear
left rear to right front
right rear to left front

I'd do both every 5,000 miles (makes it easy to remember....5,000 10,000 15,000 20,000 etc....). If you have Discount Tire, you can get lifetime tire rotation and balance for around $35 (compared to the dealer charging $30 for each R&B).

Yep, just do the tire rotation when you get the oil change. Who has time to hang out at the dealer more than is necessary?
