Imho...

That article seems not to say anything worth a reading until the end... I mean this is the article trying to inform ppl of the inside, but it doesn't really disclose anything and the only important words are what we all should know already: ...Extending the oil change interval beyond what the manufacturer recommends can seriously shorten the useful life of your engine, and cost you several times that $300 savings...


Meanwhile, this artilce isn't to reveal any secrets or mechanism about how car-makers' MID/oil monitoring system would work or how newly improved formula of oil would help engines and extend its life.


We try to believe our 3GTL's MID/ECU would monitor our engine's performance carefully and thoroughly in any normal and tough conditions. With this well-tuned setup and calculations, we should just follow our MID's suggestions to change our engine oil and filter. IMHO...
