IMO, it's not the synthetic, but regular in addition to special formulation with some of additives, (someone ever said it has molybdenum and other stuff).
Checking your oil weekly and make sure it's never going upder the mark. Keep it until your MID indicates you to replace.

The analysis has been done - many of us chose to drain our factory fill, to get the possible leftover sand and silicone and other adulterants out of there, while still providing the "nutrients" Honda thinks are important, by adding the MLEP. Consider it before you throw away the key.

So, you're kind of against to stay with MID reading, but going to replace your 04TL's engine oil at about the same time with the similar oil, right?
