Unhappy Oh God I Crashed My Baby!!!!!!!

The light turns green the guy in front of me goes. So I go driving normal. All of the sudden I hear sirens so I look up and there is a police car flying down the road in the direction I and the other car are going. Then BAM I hit the guy. It happened so fast.

The guy got out holding his neck so I am like fuck meee ... There is only a small scratch on his car but I am shitting in my pants thinking about the damage to mine. So we get out and we ask if everything is ok. He speaks with an heavy accent and doesnt want to call the police so I figure he has no insurance.

So I look at my car and the bumper has a few cracks and is no longer flush with the headlights (only about 1.5 cm but def not like it was). Can they fix this or do I need a whole new bumper??

- Chris

you hit the guy?

then it is your fault!! A bumper cover is about 5 Bills.. insurance deductible is about 500... so .. 500 lesson.

you might have to cover the other person's car if you caused the damage. As for the police... in my state there has to be a few thousand in property damage or personal injury.

my 01

My cracked bumper cover was 502 bucks.... They painted it and then I sat for about an hour for them to swap it out with the old one so I would not leave my car there over night, etc...

Well, accidents do happen. Don't sweat it if it only damages your bumper.

If the bumper's not too damaged, there are services such as www.bumpermedic.com that can repair it for cheaper than brand new bumper. Check your Yellow Pages.

be glad he didn't want to report it

you would be 100% at fault, and your insurance will go up

Good job! That's definitely what to do if you can. Same thing happened to me one time...there was a dump truck turning beside me and I was watching to make sure the back end didn't clip my car...all of the cars in front of me stopped for something and I rear ended the lady in front of me...her bumper was hanging half off and there was no damage to my car...she said don't worry about it, so I got out of there as fast as I could.

Glad to hear you're ok and only minor damage to your car (ie. air bad didn't go off - that's $$$). Good luck with it!

Maybe he was a terrorist.

I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me. It messed up my front bumper pretty badly. They repaired it. The appraiser and the body shop said it is fairly easy to do and try to repair them as much as possible. They said the plastic has "memory" and they heat it and most of it goes back to the way it was, then they fix and rub out any marks and gouges.

Mine looks like new....I never would have believed it.

They told you the plastic has "memory". I have always been told that plastic is tough to get back to the original form once it is distorted. Sure there could be some tendency to go back to the form it was in, but how good is the job. It almost sounds like they were trying to save some $$ on the insurance end...

My front bumper was replaced and fu*k it cost a lot... for the guy who hit me and paid out of pocket... Total was $1023. Bumper was like $268 + tax, shock absorber was $56 + tax, and then the labor was a bitch.. $70/hr for unmounting/mounting, $70/hr for painting labor, $30/hr for paint supplies, and some other other one time fees like flex additive, hazard mat'l disposal, etc. But damn, they did one helluva job. Net cost to me was zero and the guy who hit me didn't really care how much it cost as long as it wasn't absurd.

Regardless of whose at fault in this accident, you ALWAYS call the police. The biggest fear you should have now is if he calls the police and reports that you committed:

HIT and RUN
LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT CHECKING FOR INJURED PEOPLE

My brother is a cop...he says that this is one of the oldest tricks in the book for people looking to defraud insurance companies.

Good luck! I am glad you weren't injured.

Nah ... he was mexican. Very thick accent and probably illegal/no liscence. I could see the fear in his eyes. He said "no ... no need for police" or some shit. He was holding his neck. I asked many many times to call them but he kept saying "no."

I tried to correct your horrible grammar the best I could. However, I couldn't figure out what the hell you were saying after "please be more cautious". You're just bitter because nobody likes the exterior of your car.

Luda- Look at it this way at least your insurance premium won't be going up. Just pick up a new bumper and find someone to paint it for cheap and then put it on yourself.

They told me all the unsurance companies make them try to fix it first depending on level of damage. I always thought once the plastic bumpers were damaged there was no fix. They said they would replace it if it couldn't be repaired. I was very surprised when I got it back. It looked as good as new. I was concerned since some to the damage was near the "ACURA" recessed letters.

The incident happened in FEB of this year so this is a 7 month old thread not sure why people are discussing on this thread...or even why dcdgothx brought this thread out

Not to scare you but yeah, I have also heard of people intentionally going at a light, and then stopping so you almost have to rear end them, then they say forget it and proceed to report and claim cash.

Just as pathetic as the fact that dcdgothx sent in five Bad Post Reports about people who didn't like his car. Which I told him wasn't what the Bad Post Report was for.

Good work you guys for finding the underlying reason for bumping this old post.

Enough already. Go back to the photo gallery thread if you have anything to say. But you might want to hurry because that thread will probably get closed soon also.
