BTW, I'm seriously considering an '04 Desert Mist / Parchment at the dealership down the street (gotta be different ) The salesman started at $2000 off MSRP. He said the '05 will cost $600 more and the destination charge is increasing a little as well (although he wasn't sure by how much).

If you want to compare the 2004 press release to the 2005 press release, you can find them here:
2004: http://www.hondanews.com/CatID0000?m...33123&mime=asc
2005: http://www.hondanews.com/CatID3011?m...48344&mime=asc
The differences that I saw were:
In 2005, this was deleted: "Stopping distances from 60 mph have improved considerably from the previous TL Type-S. In internal testing the 2004 TL with all-season tires out-breaks the Lexus ES 300, and when equipped with high-performance tires the 2004 TL out-breaks the 2003 BMW 530i (also with high-performance tires).
The "Break Assist" section was rewritten.
In 2005, this was deleted (under "Wheels"): "Larger 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are available. Finished in Dark Kaiser Silber, they are specifically designed to fit both the automatic- and manual-transmission models."
In 2004, there was a table with slalom, maximum lateral g force, and breaking distance. This was deleted in 2005.
So, it looks like Acura is starting to admit that they screwed up with the tires, but is trying to "fix" the problem by removing some of the claims.

56 Photos of the 2005 Acura TL
Here is a link to 56 photos of the new 2005 Acura TL.
http://hondanews.com/CatID3011?view=p&page=1
I have examined them pretty closely and I cannot find a single difference from the 2004.
Take a look and see if you can find something.
There definitely are NOT turn signals in the mirror housings.
I will move this to the sticky thread on 2005 news after a day.

Hang your sack...
The 2005 info (engineering section) also lists a "shopping bag hook" in the trunk. Is this a new feature? If not, what exactly are they talking about? I know about the trunk tray, the nets, and the net anchors - but I haven't heard about this hook.
If it's true - this new feature would really set it apart from MB / Audi / BMW. It would probably add about 5-7 HP as well.

There were some safety changes made for 2005. That appears to be all.
http://hondanews.com/CatID3001?mid=2...81399&mime=asc
Here is the text copied from the article.
TL
The 2004 TL performance luxury sedan debuted in October of 2003 as an all-new model and since that time it has been Acura's top-selling vehicle. Equipped with a 270- horsepower V-6 engine, track-tuned suspension, an available 6-speed manual transmission, aggressive styling and a ground-breaking DVD-Audio system, the TL quickly became a dominant force in its segment, competing head-to-head with BMW, Lexus and Audi. Several safety enhancements were made to the 2005 model to comply with FMVSS 208 standards including:
Drivers seat position sensor helps determine optimum deployment rate for front airbag
Weight sensors in the front passenger seat disable the front airbag if the occupant weighs less than 65 pounds

The TL features the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition(TM) with seven million points of interest for the 48 states. Its trip calculation time is two times quicker than the previous generation TL system and it recognizes 293 verbal commands. It also offers a large, easy-to-read 8-inch multi-function touch screen display.
Trip calc two times quicker...should have waited for the 05...NOT!!!

Previous Generation means prior to 04. The calculation time of the 04 and 05 is likely the same. Time to stop wetting your pants

And a two stage airbag for the driver depending on the seat position.
Oh, yes. And the 5AT gets 29 mpg hwy instead of 28 mpg as before.
There is also a new feature in the braking which you can read about at the same site under "releases".
You're welcome.

Sorry, I just cannot resist to post this. As cTLgo and others said before, they're identical pics but renamed ones.
The same red INSIDE these two pics
Let's check file name first. About that RED color, it said "2005 Acura TL", but the file name is "HON2004083143052_pv".
Then, we check the photo, the first one was 2004 TL, and the second one is so-called 2005TL, I copied from that link.
2004TL
2005TL
Ok, NEXT, this is the new stuff in 05TL, Acura may add a (or more) sensor into the passenger seat and write more details about it.
IMHO, I guess 05 just add real "driver seat position sensor" into the driver seat; and add "weight sensors" into passenger seat. I think these two sensors are the only big difference between 04 and 05.
"05TL SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM
The airbags are located in the outboard seat side bolsters and deploy when sensors detect that a side impact is occurring. To prevent injury to a small child or small-stature adult, an innovative passenger position sensing system prevents side airbag deployment if the passenger is leaning into the side airbag deployment path. A total of seven sensors in the passenger seatback determine the height and position of the occupant; this helps the system determine if it is safe to deploy the side airbag. When the passenger returns to an upright seating position, the side airbag will reactivate so it can deploy and protect the passenger in a side impact."
04TL has "Front seat mounted side impact airbags with occupant position sensors", too, we called it OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System), which has sensors in the back of passenger seat or sidebolster, that's why the owner manual says "You should not use a cushion as a backrest". But 04TL has no weight sensors(s). The possible guess is 05TL just merely add the weight sensors into the buttom of the passerger seat.
Plus, if 04TL disables the passenger's, we will get the sign/signal in our intrument panel.
04 says: "Dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags"
04: There are 2 key factors to trigger this dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbag system: the severity of the collision, the modules interpret a signal from the seat belt buckle switch that indicates whether the occupants are wearing their seat belts.
05 says: "Dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags with driver's seat position sensor and passenger's seat weight sensor" (This front airbag system features additional sensors; front passenger seat weight sensors, and a driver seat position sensor designed to enhance occupant protection.)
04: There are 3 key factors to trigger this dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbag system: the severity of the crash, whether or not the driver's seat belt is fastened and the position of the driver's seat.
As for "DUAL-STAGE, DUAL-THRESHOLD FRONT AIRBAGS", it's almost identical as 04's, but Acura adds more words into its explanation.
MPG: 5AT from 20/28 in 04 to 20/29 in 05; 6MT from 20/30 in 04 to 20/29 in 05.
P.S. I cannot run comparison between 04's and 05's words by words, if I miss anything or any tiny details, please say it, thanks.

whoa crap! thank god i got my 6MT as an 04... you never know when you need that extra 1 mpg... after all in a 17 gallon gas tank, that could mean 17 miles extra to the nearest gas station, which could be a life saver

I doubt there will be as many rattles and quality issues as some of the early '04 TL's. All it involves is some minor adjustments in the factory. If I were Acura, I know I wouldn't mention that the rattles have decreased in the '05 model. Why? Because why would they want potential Acura customers to know that there cars had rattles to begin with? IMO quality is something that may be improved for '05 but just not advertised.

One thing I noticed RE Keyless Memory Link
The below information from the Acura TL 2005 specs, does the 04 link seat memory settings with the fob? and does the 04 have the auto close sunroof/windows?
Thanks
Graham
KEYLESS MEMORY LINK
A keyless entry system called Keyless Memory Link gives the TL a higher level of luxury and convenience by providing access to expanded memory functions. Two keyless entry fobs are provided with the TL; each fob can be linked to one of two driver profiles. As in the previous TL, the key fob used to unlock the car triggers a specific driver profile and the system automatically positions the power driver's seat and outside mirrors to match that profile. Keyless Memory Link goes several steps farther, however, by including in the driver profile the climate control system and all seven of the customizable memory functions that are available via the MID (Multi-Info Display).
A number of functions are available via the key fob when outside the car. A single push of the "unlock" button will unlock only the driver's door; a second push unlocks all the doors. After unlocking all doors, holding down the "unlock" button down for more than one second will open the windows and moonroof to ventilate the car's interior.
Still more functions are available with the key in the lock on the driver's door. A single twist unlocks only the driver's door; a second twist unlocks all the doors. If you hold the key in the unlock position for more than one second, the moonroof and all the windows begin to open; return the key to the normal position and the windows stop. When leaving the car, holding the key in the "lock" position will close the moonroof and all windows.
Thanks
Graham

madas, the 04 does have the seat memory settings linked to each individual FOB, HOWEVER, the 04s do not have auto CLOSE if you hold the lock button, i'm sure this is just a module replacement if the 04 owners want it, which I would

The release does not say hold the lock button, it says hold the key in the "lock" position... in other words you must insert the key into the lock to get it to do this... and yes the '04 does have this.
