TL
Change 1: Front seat belt buckles mounted to seat frame
Change 2: Sensors in the front passenger seat alert driver when occupant is out of a safe position for the side airbag
um... didn't Change 2 exist in the 2nd gen TL? You mean its not in the 3rd gen and NOW they are adding it? what the hell?!

OK, my old sticky would be history. http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89781 <--- other possible 05TL info please check here...
Now this is new one for good.
Thanks cTLgo. (I was still thinking how to put the info here, then your swift SIMPLE reply just did so.) But, I have to wipe out some wording out of your subject line, wish you don't mind.
The info from TOV is used to be pretty accurate.

I don't expect a exterior change as little as it may be, until 2006
When the 2nd gen came out, they didn't change the exterior till 2001, 1999 and 2000 remained the same, exteriorwise

I think some information was lost in the summary posted to that web site.
Here's an except from the "Acura 2005 Model Year Change Summary" press release that offers a little more explanation about the safety changes (http://www.hondanews.com/CatID3001?m...81399&mime=asc):
TL
The 2004 TL performance luxury sedan debuted in October of 2003 as an all-new model and since that time it has been Acura's top-selling vehicle. Equipped with a 270- horsepower V-6 engine, track-tuned suspension, an available 6-speed manual transmission, aggressive styling and a ground-breaking DVD-Audio system, the TL quickly became a dominant force in its segment, competing head-to-head with BMW, Lexus and Audi. Several safety enhancements were made to the 2005 model to comply with FMVSS 208 standards including:
Drivers seat position sensor helps determine optimum deployment rate for front airbag
Weight sensors in the front passenger seat disable the front airbag if the occupant weighs less than 65 pounds

From my experience Honda likes to make exterior revisions in the 3rd MY. So 2006 may see new colors, revised taillamp/headlight clusters, perhaps a new wheel design and things to that effect.
You know what sucks is that you click on every car on the honda media center and it gives you 2005 info on all the cars except the TL. F@#kers
Need to edit it seems they are updating as a type since i went back there was press release on the 05 TL safety features. Hope there is more to come.

rescueswimmer,
Thanks for posting the pics. I suspected the pics were of '04 models and just retitled. As someone else noted, the red appears to be the same '04 shade.
I still hold out hope for minor tweaks. This may be irrational given the "official" Acura press release but several things just don't make any sense. Passenger seat sensor is new? - I have that in my 01 CL - the airbag light goes on all the time when I have my briefcase on the seat! This can't be a new feature. There's no mention of the color change from Redondo Red to Ruby Red. Adding Zagats to the MDX should be the same for the TL as the only difference would be the info on the DVD disc which is usually shared across model lines.

Now I just called Acura cs. I dont hold any faith in this department now. I asked if there were any changes in my04 to my05 she tells me she has the book in front of her and there are no changes.....hmmmm
So I ask about the mdx
Now supposedly it gets onstar and someother goodies. She says no changes on the 05 mdx as well. So im just as lost as you are. My dealer is getting a 04 ssm, quartz navi delivered on the 15th Thats what I want. Now I'll be real pissed if i make a deal on that car and the 05 has some nice interior change ie mp3 ect.

It seems as if the people who wrote the press release either heavily plagiarized from last year or were too lazy to update the document to make sure it sounded current. Look at "The already long TL standard feature list has grown significantly with items like the first North American ..." If Acura didn't add any features from 04 to 05, how has the list grown?
This stinks.
Is it possible we could upgrade to this screen if Acura release the upgrade package for using Real time Traffic system on 04/05TL?

Sorry, this pic looks a little fuzzy. The original one in Acura.com is much clear.

A year waiting is normal, we talk this before. Whatever reasons Acura holds would be reasonable. I just wonder if the screen change could be done by simple new DVD or it has to be done by some hardware upgrade.
it could very well be a software thing, I mean it uses the Acura navi, most likey the same alpine made for the TL, TSX, MDX, and uses XM equipment, built into the TL, MDX and now TSX. So potentially the hardware may be the same. Only an engineer or this technology could tell us for sure.
OK... If Acura were to add things like Mirror turn signals and change stuff on the inside of the car...Thay would have all those people who just bought 04 TL's very pissed off Now making changes into the 3rd year which would be a 06 Model people would expect!
So I think it is very wise that they did not change anything and this is coming from somebody who has a 05 DM parchment on order! I would love to have had mirror turn signel but I can live with out it. And the interior is just fine the way it is all I hope for is that they work out some of the issues they have had just little bugs... :gheywave:

Still no turn signal mirrors.

Everyone has been commenting on the lack of turn signal indicators in the mirrors, I would not expect this to be a change for the TL for this year. Maybe during its mid model updates, but not for the second year. Plus, do you think Acura would add the mirror indicators and keep the little lights in the side groove? Would that be to many lights on the side??

Because of the lack of changes, I've flipped my deposit from an '05 to an '04 and hope to pick up my car later this week. I figure the MSRP will jump about $1000 and the dealer will be dealing a lot closer to MSRP than they are now. This could potentially translate into a difference of $2-3K for 2 extra sensors and lower vin#. Unless you plan on trading in your car after 2-3 yrs, it's not worth it.
Well, since we already have automatic disabling of the passenger side airbag for those out of postition, with a light on the instrument panel indicating so, I don't see the big deal about this. I wonder what they have added, maybe a buzzer? Glad to see my '04 hasn't become obsolete!
I think I am going to wait until after the first of the year to buy... if I can wait that long! I did get one internet offer for a 04 TL no Navi for 31,300. Not too bad for a first offer and the only one I requested. I was hoping for some additional colors, and I don't think that will happen. The 2005 Accords are now on the Honda Website and prices appear to be less than 3% over last year. The same for the 2005 TL?

For those of you concerned about the tires on the 2005 check this out:
TIRES
Bridgestone 17-inch all-season high-performance tires were developed for the TL. The standard tire is P235/45R17 M+S (all-season), with 235/45R17 high-performance tires available for the TL with 6-speed manual transmission. Navigation system-equipped models without the optional high performance tires are shod with Michelin all-season tires[U]
I pulled this from http://www.hondanews.com/CatID3011?m...48344&mime=asc - the new 2005 press release. I called Acura customer service and they are confirming this information concerning the change to Michelins for the Navigation models. I asked for the specific tire model - they are calling me back with this information. Looks like Acura has listened about the EL42s (for Navi models only!)
