Does anyone have an inside source at ANY acura dealership? Reason I ask is because we need to figure out the programing bit ourself since it would make life so much easier for the 100 plus people getting the keys.
I am pretty sure it is just a sequence of actions that we'd have to take to program the key just like we would to program the remote. I know that we wont need any sort of equipment because every time I called any dealership to get a quote they told me that I would need to bring the car in for to help them program the key. I asked one of the techs if the original key would help them program the new one i.e. creating a duplicate and I was told no

From what I understand, programming the functions of the key and the immobilizer are two different things. Here is what I've found...
Immobilizer
Immobilizer

Nemo, if you havn't already called them, I like to get on the list too if there's any discount, so 5, tustin is closer to me

so i called tustin back and this time they quoted me "$15 to cut and $55 to program" then i argued back that someone else quoted me $55 for cut & program. he put me on hold and returned and said that they'll cut it for free and program it for $55. no discounts on doing 5 keys either.
wier canyon is $55 - $10 to cut and $45 to program and mention "jim schultz". they told me to call back tomorrow to talk with jim about doing 5 keys so i'll update tomorrow.

i watched my friend program a key at the dealership last weekend.
he took the cut unprogrammed key, the regular programmed key
a tablet pc type machine that he plugged into the diag. port
he put the regular key in, turned on, punched some codes
followed directions on the tablet
turned off, then turned on
took the blank key in and followed similar procedures
started the car with the new key
turned off and started the car with the old key
and that was all she wrote......
unless you have that tablet thing with the programming codes for acura, you aint doing it by yourself....

^^ Thanks for the inf, I think this picture shows the tablet thing that you mentioned.
My research indicated that as well that you need the above tool to program your key along with a software that generated the code to be punched in the machine, code is generated using your VIN.

^^ Having that thing wont do you any good since you still need the code. As stated in previous post that the code is generated by the software and for input it needs your VIN.

Yup, go to www.switchbladekeys.com for updates. As far as the keys right now, there was a slight delay and the keys are almost done, the shop is going to finish them soon.
