If you can live with the little crack on the corner of this one, you can have these for $75 shipped... But you would also have to wait until I get my new tails which will be a few weeks.

I have the same one, but luckily, I found the chip and glued it into place. 75 bucks is a killer deal.

What caused these chips?

Or is that the million $ question?

I just bought the car last week and it was like that, so I dont know how it happened, I would guess during the installation. Thats the only chip- the rest of the tails are perfect

It's from handling them off the car...fedex broke mine, then when I was moving my stock red ones to the attic I lightly dropped the box and both of those same corners chipped off

I know no one has been talking about this for a while but Depo is great if you don't care about luminosity. If you want people behind you to actually be able to see I'd suggest contrasting OEM and Depo. There's a big difference between the light it produces. SUV's given their angle of view cannot see your brake lights light up as much as it does with the OEM's. I have been rear ended because of that. The replacement light I used was on the driver's side which is why he missed seeing me brake.

Also one easy test would be to check out the lights at night against a wall with your car backed up. Its really easy to see how little light Depo projects versus the OEM tails.

Got nailed by a one eyed driver, huh?!?!
I don't know, man...seems kinda crazy to think that. Maybe the guy was texting and driving, I feel like mine and any other oem or depo one put out about the same amount of light.

Lol not sure. Either way it was his fault. Compare them side by side. I only realized it once I had the parking lights on at night parked up against a wall. If you look at it from a standard car's level it seems similar but side by side from different angles it diminishes the light greatly.

I'd advise checking it out and not just taking my word for it. That is a problem with LED tail lights across the board for motor cycles too. The 2 stage lighting process from parking lights to braking isn't distinct enough for led's to manage alone, unlike traditional bulbs which is why the lenses have distinct patterns built in to spread the light evenly.

Now keep in mind I'm not sure about the Type S replica's. The ones I know that don't work are the original 2004 replica's. Just not as good as OEM which is why I've kept it stock.

Hmmm...
I wonder, I've removed the frosted diffuser on any that I've modified so maybe that plays a role in being BRIGHTER? I don't know but in my car the difference between parking light and brake is pretty intense.

I'm glad it you're okay.

Yeah I guess it depends but thats certainly something everyone should look into. Never thought it was that important until I saw that S10 accelerating while I was coming to a stop. Light are pretty important for me now!

No, I totally agree. Lights are SUPER important! But it seems crazy that the guy didn't notice EITHER of your brake lights coming on. That's why i was thinking there was probably something more to the story on his end that he's not divulging...lighting a doobie while driving or looking for a barry manilow cd between the seats then BAM, didn't see you stop.

Yeah either that or he only noticed the one side since he was in a hurry to beat the light. Drove fast through the intersection and it was rush hour traffic. Nevertheless I want to make sure that nothing is wrong on my side.

I guess my doubt comes from whether or not that's what he told you happened? I was thinking maybe you noticed it slightly dimmer and then gave the guy the perfect out to blame your tails instead of the real reason he hit you.
Was just thinking out loud.

Nah. I still hadn't noticed until a couple weeks later when i tried taking a few pics at night. On a camera you won't notice a difference. But to your eye there's a huge difference side by side. Luminosity is never checked by the DMV despite the fact that Utah has a yearly exam before you can get your tags. Makes me wonder who comes up with these exams. Some of their laws here are stupid.

My depos are garbage. Crazy fogging when it rains, when I wash my car, and when it's cold. And recently found a fly inside the left one, so there's an opening somewhere. Just haven't taken the time to remove them to figure out where that opening is. Seems like I'm the only one with a bad set though, so don't go by me if you're debating on getting a set haha

Very true, well that is definitely something to keep in mind. I wonder if the issues is across the board with all styles of tails?
