OEM vs DEPO tails

I want to buy a pair of type s tails for my 04 tl. Not sure weather to buy OEM for 215$ or DEPO off ebay ranging from 100-150$. I wanted the opinion of AZ members who have DEPO tails and how they fit and if anyone has/had any problems with them. Thanks everybody

These are the ones I just ordered l last night, http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-2004-20...-/310368278143

I got them for a little bit less, they were running 10% special, plus I had some eBay bucks saved up.

The seller, 'neondials' seemed to be a good one. Sent a tracking number this morning. I would definitely order from that seller again if I had to.

Are there any ways to distinguish them between the two besides quality wise? Does the depo one say DEPO on the bottom stamp? and what does the OEM type-s tails say on the bottom of the lamp? i think i asked this question before in a similar thread but did not get any response..

I would personally go with #2. The others don't specify which company made them, they just say DOT/SAE approved. #2 actually says DEPO made them.

This way you don't have to deal with crappy ebay sellers. I just got my racing pedals from them, and I am very pleased with the quality and customer service. I was supplied with a confirmation e mail and tracking number. I doubt an ebay seller will do that.

does it really make sense to pay 150 when you can pay 215 for oem.

I've been using DEPO tails for almost 2 years without any issues. Also have DEPO fogs and they're actually more solid than the OEM ones that I had in there before.

This.
From my experience i would just stay with oem. Just search, you might find some used oem tails for around the same price as new depos.

I'd pay the extra bucks and go with Stanley...perfect fitment... unless you're going to mod your tail lights then i would go for depo.

Never used DEPO on my TL, but used them on my old Cavalier, my wife's Grand Am, my mother's Crown Vic, and a co-workers Dodge truck. Absolutely no issues or complaints with them. There is a distributor locally here in KC that I have gotten mine from.

IMO, the TL-S tail mod on my base '05 would not be worth it at the OEM price. Didn't hate the OEM red, so it wasn't a priority. I think I paid around $140 for Depot tails and smoke sidemarkers from eBay seller fishcake321. They were definitely Depo...Depo box and Depo molded into some of the parts of the assembly. No quality or fitment issues at all.

I found out the quality of the Depo and OEM, the OEM material on the plastic is are sturdy. Where as the Depo material on the plastic seem kind of not up to par. I mean when I was doing a tail lamp conversion for a customer and he have a set of Depo tail lamp, when I was cutting. Seem like the plastic feel kind of soft and crack easily. To my own observation it seem like it. But both perform the same. But when I tap the cover of the OEM and Depo tail lamp, they both sounded differently.

Hey Jack, who is the distributor in KC? I'm a fellow KC'er and would be interested in checking out what he has. Thanks!

I bought my TL used and it had Depo tail lights. Whenever I washed my car, soap and water got into the plastic around the edges. Not a big deal, but I ended up swapping them out with a pair from my local Acura dealership.

In some types of lenses, the water is not actually getting "into the plastic" but is behind the plastic and gives the illusion of being inside.

Go to this page (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/acura-servicenews-bulletins-588838/) and follow the Access Instructions at the top of the page.

Then check, first, April 2007. Another possibility, for some light manufacturers, is shown in April 2010.

Both of those issues have service notes on water "in" the tail lights.

I have had a pair of Depo for a year and a half and have no leaks or problems. The right light does not fit as flush as the OEM. Its not major, if i wasn't the one that installed them, i probably would not even notice.

CertiFit up on Front Street. I usually just go to their office, but you can also poke around on their site at www.certifit.com. My local bodyshop is who recommended them to me.

unique style is a seller on ebay and a vendor on here...fishcake is him, Simon. USR is definitely depo...they are slightly thinner when the trunk is closed you can see the bezel of them a little more but nothing you'd notice or be worried about. They are perfectly fine quality in my opinion.

J.

I'm rockin my 2nd set of depos (ghost first, now smoked) and have a set of oem type s's in the attic along with some pristine reds and a set of reds that I cut open.
