OEM body kit install

Hello. I just bought the body kit for my 04 TL (hondacuraworld, of course). Does anyone, who lives in or around Dallas, and who has done this before want to install it for me? I'm willing to pay, of course. It looks easy, but honestly, I don't have time to do it...maybe with someone's help I can get it done pretty quickly.

I've done two now and the first took 3 hours. This last one I did took a little over two hours. If you can follow the step by step instructions and have a limited mechanical ability, do it yourself.

If you were local, I'd help you out...

Talking body kit install

it took me almost 7hrs to install. about 2-3 hrs for the front bumber and 2-3 hrs for rear and side skirts less than an hour. keep in mind i did this all bymyself in my garage. anyways the hardest things was getting those push pins(i think thats what they are called ) off for some reason i had the hardest time getting those off. but if i were to do it again it would take me half the time. trust me do it yourself so u know it was done right.

Hey...can you (or anyone else that's done the aspec kit install) rate the difficulty level of this install?
Also - could you break it down based on the pieces (i.e. - front 5/10, rear 6/10, sides 3/10....or whatever)

Im thinking abt doing this install myself (rather than paying the dealer ~$250) but I am NOT very handy, and have never done anything like this before...

If you are NOT very handy, don't do it. However, if you are up for a challange, the breakdown in my opinion is as follows:

Deck Lid: 2/10
Side Skirts: 3/10
Front Under Spoiler: 5/10
Rear Under Spoiler: 7/10

The deck lid and rear under spoiler both require drilling into painted parts of your car and if you f up, you f'd up your car......

If you can follow directions to a T, you should be able to tackle it tho

BTW, i did all of this by myself in my garage and it took me about 4 hours for the whole kit.....but i am good with my hands.

I did a-spec body kit install myself as my very first DIY on TL. Prior to that I never work on the car before at all. During that time, I just read the installation instructions over and over many time and see I'm clear on what I'm doing for the most of it. Those instructions are a bit confusing but once you get under the car and re-read the instruction step by steps, then they will seems clear to you.

My break down are:

Front Under Spoiler: 4/10
Rear Under Spoiler: 5/10
Side Skirts Spoiler: 6/10 (since I have to take the tires off - when i never took my tires off before) Now, it seems much easier.

After you read the instructions a few time and if you still don't feel comfort, then don't do it. The thing about the installing body kit is that, if you got stuck, you can always drive the car to professional help, since during the process, you don't render the car un-drivable. Therefore, I think this is a good first DIY. After it is done, you will feel very satisfying.

i installed mine in a garage also so it took a while. things would go faster if you had a lift to jack up the car. it's always good to have another hand when doing the rear because the bumper and the spoiler is quite large. i would rate my experience as:
front 4/10
side 2/10
rear 6/10
wing spoiler 6/10- if you're installing the wing spoiler, becareful to double check the hole location before drilling. the template is a little off. i had to elongate the hole because it was misaligned. by elongating the hole, i almost cut into the wire harness..whew!

I just bought a used OEM deck lip spoiler off ebay. For installation I would have to drill into my trunk to install it, instead of using 3M tape only.

I'm a bit hesitate to do drilling to the top of trunk. Anyone has any comments and tips that will make me feel more comfortable?

I recently installed the decklid lip spoiler , I marked the hole locations but had a friend drill the holes. the process was fairly simple , just could not get my self to drill holes on my car.

You actually don't need to remove the tires. I used a 1/4" socket/ratchet with phillips bit and to loosen them and you can basically unthread them with your fingers.

I installed the deck lid and didn't install the new spring. my trunk doesn't open as much as it should and i will probably get around to doing it someday. It is not neccesary. I imagine with the oem spoiler you need a new spring because those are much heavier.

Ahh.. I wish I knew that. OH well. Still getting used to my new tools set. Bought a craftman set from Sears, even though I don't really need a lot of tools.

In the deck lip spoiler installation instruction for Installing the new Trunk Spring, on page 5, it describes using a special tool to remove the existing trunk spring. Anyone know this special tool is really needed? Part # T/N08M10-SM4-100. I guess when I pick up my car from dealer service today, I can stop by the part department to see how much this special tool cost.

The removal tool is a must have if your going to install the wing spoiler. I installed a wing spoiler on my TL and didn't have the tool. Used the diagrams in the instructions to make a tool during the install using my welding skills. After that the spring install was pretty quick. You still need to be pretty strong to bend them in place. If I had to do it again I don't think I would do another wing spoiler on my own though, pretty messy and the template sucks. The spoiler looks awesome though on the TL. Good luck!

No, i decided not to install the spring because the lip spoiler is so light that it probably would not make a significant difference. BTW trunk opens just like before I installed the spoiler.

Bited the bullet and installed the OEM deck lip spoiler today by drilling those 2 holes. The spoiler is off to the left by a bit, it wasn't perfect but can't really notice unless compare right to left. And confirmed that the trunk open just like before, so it isn't necessary to install the new trunk spring.

You can't tell from the pic. anyways, it bugged me a little bit, so today I went ahead and drilled those 2 holes larger by pushing drill to the right while it was drilling in the existing hole, so instead of a perfect circule hole and it is a bit oval. Now my spoiler is perfectly align in the center.

It is a used OEM deck lip I got from ebay, so the existing double side tape isn't sticking, so I put on new double side tape and make a mistake only puting very little tape. After I installed the spoiler, I did water test on the trunk to make sure it won't leak and water will run through the spoiler and get in between the spoiler and the trunk. I don't think it will leak into the trunk because there are 2 washer to protect those 2 holes.

After I put the trunk liner back on, now the trunk is a bit heavier, therefore, when i pop up trunk it didn't open as high as before, it did opened about 3 or 4 inches. (used to be like 12 inches or something) We will see if this will bug me then drive me to install the new trunk spring.

I didnt read the responses.

The kit is simple as hell and the instructions are basic.

It took me under 3 hours the first time and I am certain I could do it in even less.

Just be patient and dont break anything by being impatient.
