Obsession Question

Well anyways, I got my TL maybe 6-7 months ago and love it!

But since then I always want to clean it, mod it, clean it, mod it, and so on. Since I live in Texas I have these big ass 18 wheelers behind me on the highway that get my car so dirty from dust and debris

So yeah I basically clean my car every other day, but everytime I do I get friends and/or family complaining that I do too much for the car. My girlfriends family thinks I'm crazy because I'll be cleaning my car after it rains and/or at night (so no sunspots). Anyone have the same problem I have people bashing me because I care about the Car than anyone else (which is not true, well to an extent ). I always have to have a walk through around my car just incase some dumbass opens his door and hits my car in a parking lot

HA HA!, you're definitely not alone in that department my friend...Everything you mention, i do to a tee. It's just the love and appreciation for your car, because you care and becuase you probably work hard for the things you have. It certainly beats having a nice ride, and letting it go...

Sounds like 80% of the members here. I'll admit I don't wash her that much anymore, but the way I am with my car in public places, you would think i'd take a bullet for her.

Definitely hear ya on the cleaning thing man...you're not alone.

CO + winter road crap + desert & daily commute =

but...$6 touchless drive thru carwash FTW! (until it's warmer out at least)

This reminds me...should wash the ride again soon while it isn't snowing! LOL!

BUT,it's MY car, which represent's me. Whether it be my house, car, gear etc: it gotta be on point. Material things aren't everything but I still like them

edit: This is my first BRAND NEW car so I try to keep it looking like the day I brought it home.......(I'm finding that nearly impossible as my type-s is a daily driver)

(lol) - i get this from family and friends as well...if i get a nickel everytime someone says "Dude, you're washing that thing so much, be careful the paint might come off!"

I feel you though, you're just taking care of your stuff - wanting it to look right. I'm same way.

I wash my cash at least once a week, and when it was still snowing here in nyc, I was washing it twice a week. my hand was starting to hurt from the cold weather.

But oh well, I love the car too much. Can't wait til it gets warm enough so I can start detailing this car and others to make some side money

Try... washing her and once the water hits the TL it freezes instantly.
Sure was tough cleaning the car in the winter.

Champ, I am the same way with my car. It always looks like I just drove it home from the dealership for the first time. Brother, I feel for you though with a NBP. My Type S is Silver Metallic, which is a very forgiving color.

But hey, you own a nice car and there is nothing wrong with taking good care of it. After a while, your family, friends, girlfriend and her family will just learn that that's what you do...you keep your car very clean and it shows-you're proud of your TL. I've also learned to park far away, so I'm used to walking more and not worrying as much about door dings. And, by the way, if the girlfriend and her parents keep giving you a hard time, it might be time for a new girlfriend!!!

ignore the haters

I just learned to ignore all the cheap talk about how much attention I give my car. My wife gives me a bunch of flack about my TL. Hell, I searched over a year to finally pick out the TL I really wanted, and once I got it I was on cloud 99. I take flawless care of my car, not even driving it during the winter. When I do drive it I am constantly making sure it is sparkling clean inside and out. The town where I live I can count on one hand how many 3G TL's there are, but of those few I want mine to stand out from the rest. Many friends and co-workers here in town can take one look at my car without a second glance and know its me by car's appearance .

There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep a clean TL. I keep the inside of mine spotless because of all the driving I do. But washing it in NJ every other day, just ain't going to happen for me. LOL!
