Not a question just want to vent

I have a 05 tl which I purchased about 5 months ago its a CPO TL, my caliper recently malfunctioned which in turn caused my brake pads and rotor completely get ruined, so one saving grace was the caliper was covered but acura said. "the warranty does not cover incidentals", thats complete BS! the caliper caused my pads and rotors to be damaged and its not covered, so now I'm looking at 300 bucks to get a rear brake job and a new rear passenger rotor....oh well another 300 dollars before I can drop my car...I'm never gonna save up for those SS's....oh well what can you do!

They can't goodwill the pads and rotor? Geez. Have you tried another dealership?

you can call corp and ask for a file to be opened
A real acura warranty rep calls you back and tries to work to make you happy
1-800-382-2238 x5

Depending on why the caliper failed- they can `Goodwill` whatever they want

Had you changed the brake fluid yet?
Its supposed to be done staring at year 3
(I take that to mean at the 25th month of use, the start of year 3)
Flush brake fluid, and then every year forever--its cheap insurance

I have seen 05s with some pretty nasty fluid that would lead to damage if not replaced right then

wiki hygroscopic for details

Call Acura Client Services and complain. If you bitch enough, they might cover some of it, especially since it isn't a huge amount of money.

especially being CPO- they should have seen something wrong that would cause a caliper failure in a few months
failure to do that and now expect YOU to pay for their laxness---I dont think so

thats part of what you pay for!!

If you only spoke with a service WRITER they have no authority beyond the exact rules and they have commission to make- family to feed...
the service MANAGER can do many things, and contacts the local warranty rep about any special cases

Thanks for the number I will def!, try that route, yeah I'm dissapointed in this to say the least, its a smaller dealership than the one i purchased the car at, but its a 2 hour drive to get to the cars original dealership. no I have not ever changed the brake fluid on this car under my ownership, I will def get into the garage to look up how to do that, I now understand how much it saves you to do all of your own work, if it hadn't gotten to the point where there was rotor and caliper damage I would never have gone to a dealership

be NICE to start with- the 800# is just a phone answering person- thats all- not managers- not warranty reps- not acura owners,,,not techs,,,
their job is to write down what you said and put it in a box

being nice always goes farther than the opposite method
save that~

doesnt matter where you bought the car- warranty is warranty
Meeting the Service MANAGER in person- bringing treats `for the shop` like $5 box of ice cream bars goes a long way to being an A list customer

Tell them you would like to give ALL 10s on the surveys, and would be happy to do the email and phone ones too....
if they can help you out with this unusual situation on your new car

no go talked to customer care and got a better number 800-999-9501 they deal with all warranty issues with our cars, the warranty does not cover incidentals, but I may still be able to talk to the service manager and be a "super nice guy" and see what they can do...The 300 includes a rear brake job which the service writer said is not a neccesity, but in my mind just replacing one rotor and brake pads isnt doing me any good might as well bite the bullit and get them both done so both sides are equal, would my thinking be right on this?, one thing i never want to skimp on is brakes a bit too important....as for the suspension, I guess i need the car running right prior to adding parts...bummer...

That blows man. I would try everything I could before I gave them the credit card. You would think that a "warranty" would cover just about anything. It's not like you did it on purpose.

Have you had any luck with calling that Acura Care number?

What dealership are you at? Appletree?? Ask if the could at least work with you on price because the labor for replacing the caliper will be payed by warranty and they could possibly get the rotor covered as well. and maybe you could just pay for the pads??

yeah it was appletree...they were good to deal with, I ended up paying 309 after a misquote so they dropped the price to 309, that included a new rotor, caliper(warrantied), and a rear brake job, maintenance I guess....so i cant complain that much, so now that that and bills are done all 600$ dollars worth, I'm now having to decide if the supercup is the way to go instead of the SS haha what can you do....this mod bug is killing me, I NEED that next part!

one rotor and pad for 300? I got my 2 rotors in the front with pads for 300 locally from a reputable shop here. My rear rotors are needing a replacement soon but since most of the breaking is done in the front, I've been putting it off (They aren't shot and the pads are good still).

yeah that was the downside, due to the caliper malfunction, I had to go ahead and get everything done at the dealership, however they did do the routine rear brake job, pads checked everything and flush brake lines ect. yeah I know it was steep but it had to be done due to the circumstances
