seems a little blurred..even the light itself below the cutoff. I have ZKWs as well, but it's a sharp cutoff - did you check if they were foggy/dirty before they were installed?

take some pics off the projectors with the headlights off, focusing on the lens

side topic: are your tail lights really blue??? that looks very interesting, I want pics of that too! lol

ZKW often needs a 1-2mm spacer between the lens and housing to get the right focus. It's critical to test your focus, adjust, test, adjust... prior to sealing them up.

Most cut out a cardboard box and make a donut. I used an old dvd case to make them.

My cutoff is like a razor...

Seems like you need to do a little shield bending, towards your bulb.

Take a look at this thread, he would no more than anyone. Matt is the guy who makes the ZKW-R lenses. Hope this helps.

Bending works with ZKW-R lenses. He has a set of authentic ZKW lenses .

Alan, I pmed you as well, reason why the output is a tad blurry is because you have brand new 85122+ bulbs. After 100+ hours of use they will colorshift, they wont actually loose color or intensity as thats what most other bulbs do once they colorshift but the arc will shift slightly to give you that infamous sharp output that the real ZKW lenses are known for.

BTW the following picture is of ChicoOG's output, he has the same set up as you and the lenses are using the same spacers as well, there are two differences in your cut off and his, he is using old osram OEM bulbs and also has DOT step cut off shields from early 04 TL model, where as your set up has brand new 85122+ bulbs along with DOT slope cut off shields.

Step

_______________|'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''

Slope

________________/'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

The slope or step cut off shields dont affect the sharpness of the cut off, they do affect the shape of it though as shown above.

Also, the lenses are spaced 0.35 mm, spacing them any more than that gives you a sharper short distance output i.e. less than 25 feet, but it gets blurry after 25 feet. As suggested in the PM, you can test actual sharpness by switching to your old colorshifted osram bulbs.

Mine still look like yours after a year. I'm still waiting for the shift I suppose?

You lucky man. I wish I had Real ZKW's. I had them in my stratus R/T retrofit and I loved them, they seemed to be a little more sharp within the cut off.

Mine looked like yours as well. (this was from my stratus retro 25'-30')

I thought 85122+ weren't supposed to color shift at all?

The lenses are somewhat dirty unfortunately (seems to have some streaks and dust on them). Would that have an impact on cutoff, though? I asked JnC and he didn't seem to think so.

argh!!! lol, I knew there was no way :P I actually grew up in Tustin and live in Irvine right now, I would have seen you around and probably crashed because they looked so awesome.

hm..I see..I dunno I just felt the light output looked "dusty" - I don't really know how to explain it, but yeah I guess it wouldn't effect the cutoff. I got your PM, I'll try to post pics as soon as I am able to snap some.

lol too bad blue lights are illegal and reserved for police... if I was a cop, I'd probably mod my tails to be blue .

And since you're in Irvine..... want to meet up with me so I can compare cutoffs?
