noob with stupid question.

I just got my WDP 5ATw Navi tusday. (i am so amazed by this car everytime i get in.. ) but i have a question... Ive never had a car that measured oil life, scheduled repairs etc, and I've usually done most of these maintainance issues myself. my question is if I change the oil in the car, will I have to go to the dealer to reset the "oil life" meter and/or "change engine oil" reminder?

I tried searching "engine oil light" but i came up with nothing.

thanks for your help guys. I'm sure i'll have tons more questions to ask. but i'm gonna go for a drive now...

I believe you will find the info in the owner manual under MID.

The procedure on page 196 of the manual is incorrect. In paragraph 3a of the manual, the requirement to hold the button for 10 seconds the second time it is pressed is omitted. If this is not done, the display will not reset.

Here’s the full procedure to reset the MID display.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON

2. Select Trip A or Trip B (You can use either one, so if you are using one to record data for something, use the other one to reset the Oil Life Indicator).

3. Press the < or > button repeatedly until the oil life is displayed.

4. Press and hold the Select/Reset button for 10 seconds. The Multi-Information Display will ask for a confirmation.

a. If you are sure you want to reset the display, press the Select/Reset button for 10 seconds again. (This is the part omitted from the manual.)

b. If you do not want to reset the display, press the < or > button to select “Cancel”

that was from RON A by the way i just copy and pasted from on of his posts in another thread

After the first oil change I would only go by the MID if you are using mobil 1 and a fram extended life filter, at least that is what we will be doing.

You don't need to take it to the dealership for oil change. For the price the Dealership charges you, you can buy Mobil 1 and do that yourself
