No Front License Plate!!!

I live in Texas and am required to have a front license bracket...I have seen other cars where they do not have to have a bracket in front....their Tl's look so good without it....real sporty...I have a mind to dump mine and claim that it fell off.....Anyone drive without their front bracket in a state that requires them?

Search.

Yeah, they do. And they get tickets or hassled from time-to-time.

I love NC.

I'm in Missouri which requires a front plate, and havent had any problems with it. All of my whips 99 Camry, 02 QX4 (totalled) did not have a front license plate and no problems. Only time you MAY run into problems is when you get pulled over for some other reason, and the pig is a major ass...

Like Bearcat NC rules in terms of license plates, but they suck in terms of window tinting inspections!

We are required up here too .. I took it off for the winter and have it by my seat with the edges of it taped. If I get stopped I just whip it out and set it on the dash .. Then I tell them someone backed into me and left the mount all smashed on the ground .. and I'm waiting for a replacement to come in.

Werked so far.

I'm in CA and I drive without one in the front. In CA cops do not pull you for that. However, if they pull you for any other reason they can add this violation to the points / fine as well. Mostly they will give a fix it ticket.

I wish I had not front plate, the car look soooooooo much sexier...

Anyone in NYC riding without the front plate? I know for sure the moment I'll take it off, some ass cop will pull me over to give me a lecture.

Excellent idea, until same cop pulls you over, as most cops patrol the same area.

Thanks for all of your input....I am going to lose the front bracket and see how long it takes for them to pull me over...I am going to do as "Jesstzn" says and keep the license under the front seat and whip it out when needed...

my question is this,

I know they have universal mounts which allows you to mount your license plate at the grill area...now is this still illegal?

They are strict in Ohio.
It gives the Highway Patrol a primary target for their laser guns. That way they don't have to waste so much time poundin' their pudd which doesn't bring in tax dollars

I know it looks better w/o the plate, but trying to play around the law is a PITA, just paint it to match ....

I'm from Virginia and don't have a front plate. I also have illegal tints.. so maybe I like to push the limits but until the day I get hassled I'll take the risk. I always carry the plate with me in my glove box or sometimes when driving around town I'll just put it in the corner of the winsheild. I think it looks so much cleaner without I'll pay the damn fine if one ever comes my way

thank god i live in SC no front plates and no yearly inspection....so while its illegal to have some percentages of tint, you will rarely get hassled for it

Actually I did get pulled over in LA, but was only given a warning. A few weeks later, a nice violation ticket was placed on my windshield while my car was PARKED in front of my house. I believe in CA they are starting of enforce the front plate law more strictly since more and more intersections are adding the cameras for red light runners.

I live on the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro area. We have NO license plate in Kansas !!!! It's so sweeeet-especially having a one month old Type S. Now, if we could just get rid of all the snow so I could keep my car clean for longer than one day.

Move to Arizona where there's no front plate requirement, and we can have tint on the car (33% on the front door windows, as dark as you want on the rear doors and back window).

Damn, you guys are making me want to break the law.

I really cant stand the way that plate looks in the front. An email to TX DOT confirmed that its illegal but I see many ppl still drive without it. Thing is, unlike NY, ppl dont get pulled over that much down here. So, I think I might just press my luck.

Another Ohioan here - with no front plate. It's been a pain trying to get bumper plugs, but this is the 5th car I've had without a front plate. As S PAW said, the lasers need something to bounce off of, and I swear by not having a front plate, I've been saved a couple times.

Funny enough, my wife was pulled over for speeding in her Audi, with no front plate, and the cop said nothing.

same here. never got pulled over in the 2 years w/o front plate, but received a ticket once while PARKED on the streets. the no license plate ticket can be fixed if you have an officer signing it off. i just paid it off, it was $25 i believe.

Guys, I have a new question in regards to this thread. Since I don't have to have a front license plate, I was thinking about putting some color to the word "Acura" on the nose of the car. How can you get that done? Is there a decal for it? If so, where can you get them?

I live in TX and i been driving without my license plate for over 3 month now and no pull overs.

This is what i do - I put those suction caps (2x) on the licence plate and KEEP IT IN THE GLOVE BOX.

I don't even like putting it on the wind shield it looks ricey. So I just have the suction caps

on and put it in the glove box and if cop pulls me over ill get it out of my glove box and i'll

just tell em

"oh the suction caps fell off while i was driving and i couldn't put it back up cuz i was driving"

and what are they gonna say? ill just say ill put it back on =P

haha. I actually live in central jersey (Hamilton) and commute to Hoboken everyday.. I've not been stopped yet for having one license plate... now this may be because i'm lucky or it could be because they are virginia plates. I'll have NJ plates in a couple weeks and we'll see if I start to get hassled

Oh! that's classic....will try that also....

See what happens when we all put our minds together.....these cops don't stand a chance if we get pulled over...just whip out my license plate with suctions cups, I'm not even to to bother to put the butt plugs where they drilled the holes for the bracket....

The chrome will add shine where I want it to be blacked out...otherwise, that might've been a good idea!

I got my NBP 07 Type-s in 2006 of December, up to this date, i still never been pulled over for not having a front plate. What I did was cut the "temporary registration sticker" on my windshield to open display a few numbers. This way comps think its a brand new car that hasn't received plates yet.. i doubt cops would check the front and back of my car =] *crosses fingers

The fine has quadrupled since you last got one. Mine was $100!! Got it signed off and it was $25...not to mention the hour I had to wait to get it signed. I just put it back on...one less thing the cop can write me up on But still, I'm considering pulling it off again but for some reason I feel I will be targeted again. Kind of a hassle. Man the things we do to make our cars a little more aesthetically pleasing.
