NJ tint question

I moved to NJ recentely from NC. I have 35% tints all-over (legal limit in NC).

Now in NC if you have darker then 35 % tint (which I had on my Honda before), they fail you in your yearly vehicle inspection...so you had to take it to some mechanic you knew or *ahem* pay "extra". Anyways, I hear tints in NJ are not legal alltogether, does that mean they will fail me in the inspection? I see a lot of members here from NJ with tints so I know there is a work around, what is it? before I take it in on monday...

BTW - I am in lyndhurst, north jersey.

Well, technically tints on the front windows are illegal. Tints on the rear window and the rear sides are OK.

I don't know about inspection, and with the police it depends.

I'd love to get some light tints on my car, but don't want any hassles.

Cops wont be much of a problem unless you run into some A**hole popo's or bring attention upon yourself by speeding etc.

Now regarding the inspection...you just need to find the right body shop / outside inspection place that is willing to have their palms greased in return for a passed inspection...shouldn't be tooo hard

No, the NJ DMV inspection would not be a place to go with the tints.

Welcome to NJ. I had 35% all around on my TSX for about a year, then I was pulled over on the border of Somerset/Hunterdon County one morning just for my tint. I had just left my office, was still in the industrial park and not even up to speed yet (35). The guy let me off with a warning, and instead of getting hassled again, I took the fronts off and left the back 3 windows. It doesn't look as good, but it beats getting hassled for them IMO.

Another thing - When I was in NC, apartment complexes that I lived in usually had common car washing area etc, if not there were always car washes where you could put in quarters and get water etc...

My apartment in NJ does not have the same and I have yet to find a car wash with the facitliy I described above...does NJ have such a concept or not?

I have been running the car through hand washes and touchless car washes but I really want to work on the small details, one for example the wheels etc...

suggestions...?

Where in NJ are you...there definately are places where you put in quarters and can wash your own car with a high pressure stream water...I know of one of the top of my head, Auto Wash, they're in South Brunswick right off of the route1 north bound side
