What do you think the chances are of beating a stock nissan 240sx with a 05 5AT M-D TL?

 

Do you think a stock 05 5AT M-D TL could beat a stock nissan 240sx

why or why not?

 

I raced on on a straightaway from Clearwater to Tampa, FL once before... I have the 4AT with headers+intake... it was pretty easy

 

I'm pretty sure man....i don't think they are all that fast w/o mods. But..most people don't have stock 240sx's..they normally turbo them and a lot of suspension mods.from what i have experienced.

I had a 240sx before I bought my TL 2 years ago. I know for sure you could beat it.

lol just make sure he doesn't have the SR20DET under the hood man, otherwise it should be a piece of cake, I mean a stock 240SX has like 155hp -160?

 

yupz just like what the others said..if its a stock 240, you would beat it without a sweat, 240 is kinda heavy...what year is it?

but personally I think its not really worth racing him...expensive car vs a cheap ass car...

 

as easy as beating a stock celica GT or 2.5L altima. a stock 240sx isn't fast.

 

i dont want to... he wants to race me... i told him i had an acura... hes prolly thinking i have a 2nd gen integra or something lol....

unless he knows i have a TL... then he probably has something under the hood and hes not telling me. thats why i came here... i thought they were very beatable.... but him wanting to race me so badly is now giving me second thoughts...

like i said - either A) He thinks i have an old integra, or B) he has a nice setup that hes not telling me about....

Since you're probably gonna race whether or not people give you advice, I'll say this before anything else: be safe out there. Don't endanger yourself or anyone else out there.

Anyway, a stock 240 stands no chance at all against the TL. They are totally slow from the factory, unless they have been swapped or turboed. If that is the case you will get your ass handed to you, badly.

What do you have to lose? You drive a family sedan. And its an automatic. If you lose, your launch or power of your car could only be to blame.

 

KA24DE has zero chance in hell.

Now if it has an engine swap, that's a whole different story. My friend's S13 with an SR20DET motor put down close to 400 rwhp and pulled on a C5 Z06. He had a Blitz stage 3 kit sitting in his garage, which would've put him at over 400 rwhp, but he sold the car before that happened. Just letting you know of their potential.

You need to check under the hood to be sure. If it's got a 6-cylinder (stock KA), race him. Even if he turbocharged the KA24DE, you wold still have a good chance. If it's an 4-cylinder in there, be careful.

If he's got a lot of money and has a nice-looking 6-cylinder in there, then you're SOL. RB26DETT. :worship:

 

trust me... he dosent have a lot of money to be modding his car... i know that much. were you being sarcastic about the 4cyl?

him not having money for mods is what worries me... why would he even bother trying to race a car that he knows will beat him? Unless, he got some AutoZone CAI for 30 bucks and thinks hes coool... i really dont know... hes not really my friend, but weve hung out at parties, etc... maybe hes blowing smoke... i dont know. i do know that I DONT trust him haha

If he has the SR20DET motor you're gone. I doubt he has the RB26DET not many people have done that, it's too pricey.

If he is completely stock then he's gone, but I know that if I had that car it wouldn't be stock for more than an hour.

 

Well even if you drove an Integra I still think you would beat him.

I have beat a "modded" 240sx (i don't know how much it was modded but...) with an Infinti J30t at high speed. I can also beat that car with my Infiniti G20 5MT. The TL will rape 240sx.

The only way for a 240sx to beat the TL is to keep the gear in 2nd on the TL.

 

KA is a 4 banger too... just a big 4 banger. only v6's nissan ever made were the Vg, VQ and VE engines. none of which made apperances in a 240sx platform. now, if its a S12 chassis 200sx youre in trouble. SE 200sx's came equiped w/ a VG30e and are fairly mean in stock form.

but yeah... no 240sx came with a 6 cylinder. up till they stopped being sold in the USA is was all KA series 4 cylinders. the 89 and 90 came with a even slower version of the KA24... the SOHC version. these 240s can be identified by their fronts, aka, a "pig nose". 2 vents over the license plate.

the real fear comes from someone packing a CA18DET. literally know as a "mini RB", anyone who has one of those under the hood knows how to work it. limited aftermarket support for those means a high HP one is running a big turbo and custom internals... its a dangerous animal in the right hands

no kidding man, i wouldn't mess with any nissans with turbos unless I am heavily modded, which...I am not.
